Scandic Neptun

Nice hotel and helpful, friendly staff with an excellent choice and quality at breakfast.

Scandic Neptun is perfectly located—an easy walk to the harbor, Bryggen, and lots of great food and beer spots. The breakfast was excellent with a big variety and fresh options. Our room faced the inner courtyard, so no view—just other rooms across—but it was quiet and comfortable. Overall, a solid base for exploring Bergen!

Great location for exploring Bergen and its waterfront. Friendly staff, no hassle luggage storage, and very good breakfast buffet. Easy walking distance to much that Bergen offers to visitors.

Very modern hotel with a phenomenal breakfast!!

Really disappointing room. No coffee maker in room or kettle. No phone in room as was told that hotel is phasing phones out because ‘everyone’ has a cell phone. A foreign visitor with no local connection has no way to make emergency or housekeeping calls. Floors appeared uncleaned for a longtime as they got stuck with our shoes. Bathroom had no basic supply like lotions, shower cap & floor mat.

The check in experience was not nice at all. The receptionist was borderline unfriendly and definitely seemed like she didn't care to make us feel welcome or have a nice experience. When we got to our room (which actually looked very nice), we discovered that it didn't have hot water. Lukewarm at best. We went back to reception, who swapped us to another room on the same floor. We went there and it was the same. Then we were swapped to a 3rd room on another floor, which had hot water. During the whole time the receptionist cooperated but wasn't nice at all. The room we ended up in was much smaller and was less equipped than the first room we went into. Additionally, the bathroom had a funky smell that never went away, even after we stayed there 3 nights and the powered vent worked for a long time. The room also missed the tea/coffee making set (kettle, cups, teaspoons, coffee & tea) and it took more than one request to receive all of that - again, giving us the feeling we were a burden. In general it felt like this room wasn't properly prepared for guests and was handed out as an emergency response with no follow up. On the positive side, the buffet breakfast (was included in our deal) was very good.

Nice hotel but nothing to do in the area without a car. Car showrooms, industrial estates and more hotels.

Excellent location, quiet rooms. There is a bar and restaurant on site, however neither were open on the Wednesday night that we stayed. Lots of disappointed, weary travelers! None of the staff members could explain why they were closed. The breakfast spread is very good, but didn't open until 7am. Too late when trying to get to the airport! If available, I would recommend staying at Scandic Byparken. Much better atmosphere, great staff and great location!

The property is quite dated. Hallways are dingy. Rooms were not easily accessible. Had to climb stairs with luggage because of split levels. Do not stay in rooms with four digits. Gym machines need repair and / or replacement. Bed very creaky. Breakfast was nice. Overall not to the standards that you associate with Scandic.

Nice hotel close to transport and attractions. Room good size and clean. Amazing buffet breakfast.

the location was ideal. Breakfast offered an excellent range and variety of good food Our room 8005 had a nice view and 2 easy chairs to relax in, and also a fridge, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities, all of which were not available in our previous hotel or usually found in tourist hotels. In general very impressed with everything about the hotel. It would have been nice to have the BBC world news TV channel, if possible.

The Neptun is in the centre of Bergen, within walking distance of local bars, restaurants, shops and attractions. Key things to know; Bed was very comfortable, shower was decent, breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold fare. I would stay again without hesitation.
