This inn was quaint & charming at one end of Old Town. The room was cozy, plush robes were provided as well as a basket of local goodies to indulge in if you chose. Complementary breakfast with a nice array of options was also a plus! I originally gave 4-star due to lack of an in-room fridge, which would have been helpful for medication storage. After mentioning this on a one-to-one with the hotel, I received an immediate message from the GM informing me that one could have been provided had they known, which I appreciated. This I gave a 5-star review here. I would definitely stay there again.

Property was nice with a bar & restaurant on site. Room was pretty but the bed was very firm. Also we didn't realize there was not a refrigerator in the room. I will say the staff made our stay enjoyable. Very helpful and friendly staff! We would stay here again.

Very much Jeckle & Hyde between public areas & bedroom. If bedroom had been same as bar & restaurant it would have been 5 stars review.
Unfortunately it was not the case, poorly cleaned & prepared room, hair grip from previous occupant left on carpet, radiator cover hanging off, and cigar burn on carpet (flooring was carpet squares so not swapping that out is just lack of attention to detail).
The bed was lumpy & squeaky, the curtains hardly covered the windows so lots of light pollution led to poor night's sleep. Finally, bath was chipped & stained.
If in town again i could be tempted to bar or restaurant but i will stay elsewhere!

I stayed 2 nights - a week apart to and from the Bay Area. I've just sent an email asking what brand mattress the hotel uses because I didn't have back pain either morning! It was amazing!
The ambiance of the hotel is always lovely. I appreciate the complimentary glass of wine in the evening, and although I wasn't able to stay for the sit-down breakfast this time, I love that apples and beverages are always available.
Looking forward to my next trip to Eureka! I always stay at Carter House. <3 <3 <3

We apparently booked a room in the newer building across the street from the Victorian building. Though I was surprised we thought since it had an elevator it might be easier. It was and our room was spacious, however like the lobby it was completely bland, no sense of thought was put into either space. Everything was painted the same color from trim work to walls to furniture except the ugly peel and stick floor squares. We were truly surprised by its complete lack of decor. A few years ago we had stayed in the Victorian building across the street and it had been cute and comfortable. Not sure we’d stay again because it’s not inexpensive and compared to so many other beautiful places we’ve stayed it’s far from the mark.

We had an amazing time at the Carter House! The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was great! My wife became ill at the end of the trip, and the staff was amazing and caring towards her, helping her to be comfortable until we could travel again. Awesome inn and staff, I can't recommend highly enough!

The social scene in the lobby, bar, & restaurant on a Friday night was a pleasant surprise. The stay was excellent but the managment and staff were outstanding.

Average at best. Our room was freezing. No additional bedding for warmth. Sheets were subpar and the mattress was uncomfortable.
