Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Merrillville, IN

I stayed here twice. Once recently and once 2 years ago. It’s gone down hill a lot. I stayed here on the coldest night of the year and woke up in the middle of the night to realize there was no heat in the room. They must have ran the heaters until I got there and turned them off. I didn’t even notice the heaters in the corner until the middle of the night and I was looking around the room because it was so cold. I had a one bedroom suite when I plugged in the heater in the bedroom and then plugged in the one in the living room area, the power to the room cut off. Also, the bathroom, the whole wall behind the toilet was covered in mold about to the top of the toilet. And all the lamps had something smeared on them. The couches and the chairs were dirty, and the microwave did not work..

We arrive to find it closed for fire hazard reasons. Why weren’t we alerted?

Hotel was closed by fire inspector for unsafe conditions. I received no notice before i got to the door

Didn't like this hotel. It was dirty through out. The elevators wrre bad and smelly. Nothing much for breakfast as well. Please avoid this hotel.

The property in the pictures and the property in real life are not the same. The pictures were probably taken when it was first built like 50 years ago. It is super dirty, with cracked tiles, disgusting stained sheets, and a freezing pool and pool area that ended up closing the day after we checked in. The staff were super rude. They acted like you were bothering them when you asked for anything or told them their television didn't work. They had to replace the TV in our room and the man left the packaging, screws, and sawdust everywhere. I had my toddler with me so I had to run him down to ask him to clean up his mess. Nobody apologized for the inconvenience or even acknowledged it being an inconvenience for us. They were also under construction and running their tools in the middle of the night. If I could give negative stars I would.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The whole process was easy and everything was very clean. Nice place to stay for a business trip.

The worst stay ever. My room was cold no heat in the middle of the winter. It was dusty , the TV didn't work. The Couch pillows was disgusting. Very shabby paint Pilling off the microwave refrigerator and dirt around the corner of the floor. They mive to another that was still cold and Dirty. The free Breakfast was disgusting. Waffle mix tasted nasty and Sour the eggs taste a sour . Like everything was old. The price is cheap because you're gonna get a cheap stay.

The staff here are so kind, they tend to all your needs. Great place

Cleanliness

Guy at the desk was nice thats why I rated 2 stars I walked in the room turned the light on it was so dem then i looked up it was stains on light fixtures at least 3 of them crumbs on the chairs stains on the couch pillows fingerprints on the mirrors fingerprints all on inside and outside of elevators paint chipping off walls wall panels didnt line up together so there were cracks all ova the fridge wasnt cold

I booked the 2 queen bed rm for 2 days. The room was clean, had a fresh paint smell in it.There is a sign @ the front desk explaining hotel is under construction. The heat in my room worked great up to 80*. My one complaint for my room was the top lock was bent & broken which made me feel a little uneasy @ night.The beds are very comfortabl! The breakfast was ok, great for 6 girls wanting to use the waffle maker & good selection of donuts & cereal. The woman that works in the kitchen was very kind & kept it clean. She was very understanding of the girls & helped them throw their items away. An older lady spilled a cup of syrup on the floor, the worker came & cleaned it with no complaints. The pool is small, no jacuzzi. My girls said the water seemed a little dirty, they couldn’t see clearly underneath like they could at other hotel pools. It was basically just enough room for our 6-8 girls. The girls said parts of the flooring of the pool was coming up. There are some kind of hooks (I’m assuming to hold the pool rope) on the walls that stick out & injured 2 of the kids. They need to remove them or cover them. Also pool room needs some ventilation, it had major mold in the window seals & walls. They did not have a First Aid Kit, the receptionist could not find it. One needs to be bought & stored in view. The hotel was clean, except the elevator doors inside & out had smudges & dirty hand prints on it. I spoke to a staff member ( kitchen worker) & she cleaned it immediately.

Did not tell us they were under a remodel Dry wall everywhere and a bad smell through the lobby Tub/ shower was rusted out Never did let me talk to a supervisor nor help us for our suffering and pain

Great place to stay for family

My room was very clean, but my ceiling had cobwebs in the corners, and my tub had rust in the bottom that I was told wouldn't come out. I was also told that they are completely renovating the hotel from the top down, and once it is complete, everything will be updated. I was there for 2 days and never got any room service, but I did get more clean towels when I asked for them. The breakfast was pretty good, always fresh and hot and the variety wasn't too bad either. I received excellent customer service during my stay and was offered a discount on my stay when I return...I would stay at this hotel again.

I arrived around 10pm and requested a king suite. The lady did not acknowledge me that my requested room was available. Then was rude and inconsiderate that i wasnt ok wit it

It was a quiet environment, the pool is closed until the new year.

I will like to be refunded partially due to the inconvenience of construction going that wasn't mentioned prior to booking. The workers there working on the hotel had a speaker playing Mexican music every day. I provided pictures as well. The pool online prior to the booking said it was available when we get there they said the 23 of December it will be ready the 23 came and they said they don't know when it will be fix. These things are important to me and I need to know these things prior to booking if the pool and stuff are down because I have kids that look forward to that. To get to the hotel and find out the pool is not working and construction is going on with continuous play of salsa mysi6is unbelievable. Christmas trip disaster have I known any of these things prior to my booking I would have Not book that hotel. This is unacceptable!
