Embassy Suites Hotel Des Moines Downtown

This place is a dump. TV didn’t work, mattress was basically on the ground and felt like it was from the 80s, deadbolt on the door had been busted and clearly not repaired. Can’t believe I paid over $400 for two nights for this quality. No parking available, had to pay $10/day at some lot next to it. Customer service was lack luster at best. Someone in the area mentioned it was outdated and crappy, unfortunately by the time they told me it was too late to cancel because of their insane policy. Wish I booked the Staybridge Suites right next door because the location was good.

Accessible location to all things Des Moines! Comfort, convenience, great breakfast, and walkable neighborhood on the river.

We like the location and the drinks and evening snacks. The breakfast was very good and the service was awesome. What i didn't like was that our carpets were damaged and loose creating a trip hazard near the front door and bedroom doorway.

Great location and shuttle

The pipe in our bathroom came loose an sewage water ended up all over the floor and because I used the hotel app they said there was nothing they could do to comp the room.

The staff was very nice, but room was a little worse for wear. Room was clean, but parking was a task

Over all it was a good stay. But some of our towels were dirty upon arrival. Just noticed that there was need for some updating. Dirty/missing or discolored caulk in the shower and just over all wear and tear in the furniture.

Was disappointed that there was no hot tub and the swimming pool was cold. Room was nice.

The staff were very friendly, especially the breakfast crew. The rooms were clean but were showing their age. The couch was pretty worn but the beds were very comfy. It was a pleasant stay

We very much appreciated being able to check in early...it was a game saver for us!! And all of the staff were so kind and helpful!

We had a wonderful time in Des Moines. The shuttle was convenient and the free breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices.

It was check in process that was horrible as Expedia reservation (paid for) was not at the hotel. The staff worked on correcting the problem, only to have the same thing happen at noon the next day with no resolution from Expedia. Had to pay higher rate when locked out of room. Had delay of activities and reservation both days due to this inconvenience by Expedia. Hotel was accommodating to our needs.

Food options

When booking this hotel I requested an early check-in. I didn’t hear anything back so day of check-in I call at 9:30 AM to request an early check-in. The lady said they could probably have my room ready by 2 PM I said ok and then I call back around 1:30PM to make sure my room was ready they said it still wasn’t ready. I show up at 2 PM maybe hoping that it would be ready. Front desk lady very rudely said it still isn’t ready. It probably won’t be ready until check in time which is at 4 PM. Already annoyed I say OK that’s fine. We’ll just come in at regular check-in time. So we did we came at 4PM which is the check in time and it STILL WAS NOT READY!! She said she could give me another room to wait until my room was ready cause we were looking at another hour before it was. Frustrated I said fine and didn’t get a call from the hotel about my room being ready until 6 PM which I then had to move all my stuff from that room to another room two hours AFTER my suite should’ve been ready. The front desk didn’t apologize for the inconvenience maybe try to make it better which I was not expecting anything from them, but just maybe something instead of acting like I was the problem. I got one of their bigger suites and just don’t understand how I’ve been calling all day trying to get this room and still wasn’t ready until two hours after check in time!

This was an amazing stay! This exceeded my expectations for the price we paid!

We had to go to our brother-in-law's funeral. We arrived on a Friday afternoon; left for the evening returning late. Then we left Saturday morning returning late Saturday night. We left for home Sunday morning.It was super cold. We were very disappointed when we got to the hotel and were told there was no parking places left for us so we had to park on down the street. Super cold walk back and forth six times! Had we known we would park so far from the hotel we would've chosen a different hotel! Maybe I missed something, but there was no maid service on the second day. No clean towels. Overall the building was OK. The breakfasts were good. I was just disappointed about the parking situation and the lack of maid service.

A friend and I attended a Sponge Bob rave at Wooly's in Des Moines. The room was large, spacious and clean. It had a table, three sinks and plenty of sitting room. It was more than we imagined. We enjoyed the happy hour and free breakfast the next morning.

We had a great stay at the embassy suites. Thanks to the staff for helping us with the shuttle and getting to our event.

Great location. Parking is convenient and hotel is clean. Breakfast was great.
