Hampton Inn South Kingstown - Newport Area

The hotel was clean and the breakfast was good. However, I was very disappointed that the room did not match my reservation. I had booked a room with two queen beds, but was given one with a king bed and a sofa bed instead. When I brought this up at check-in, the staff simply said no two-queen rooms were available—without any apology or effort to help. We chose the two-queen room for the comfort of real mattresses, not a sofa bed, so this was very frustrating. I expected better service and accountability.

The staff was very friendly. The gym and pool areas are really nice. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable.

Super clean, spacious and comfortable room. Friendly front desk staff that makes you feel welcome. Great breakfast selection. The hotel is very well maintained. Check in and check out were easy.

Only 10 minutes from URI campus

My stay was all but typical until the morning of my checkout, when I was awoken to persistent knocking around 9:00am. When I looked to see that it was cleaning staff I ignored since I put the do not disturb sign on the door the previous night and checkout wasn’t until 11:00am. About 5 minutes later they forced their way into the room and I could see a hand trying to flip the latch open from the outside in. I opened the door at a loss of words, nothing of this nature has ever happened to me before so I was obviously in shock. They quickly shrugged it off as a confusion that I already checked out. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and I am disgusted with the incompetence of this staff. As this area is a popular wedding destination I strongly encourage staying elsewhere.

The room was exceptionally clean. The staff was wonderful. The location was perfect. The shopping center nearby was a fabulous amenity!

Great overall

Very friendly and attentive staff. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was great. My only suggested improvement would be to update the showers/bathroom. Otherwise it was perfect and I plan to book again.

The woman at the front desk was not welcoming at all. She seemed to be irritated that we arrived early and when we asked for early check-in, she flatly stated no rooms were ready yet. Fair enough. But we sat in the lobby and waited with two other groups, and she made a point of coming up to each of them and letting them know she was putting them on the list to get the first available rooms, while saying nothing to us. We did get in early, but only by being persistent. And the next morning at checkout she simply said goodbye and didn't ask anything about our stay. I'm used to way more cheerful and accommodating service at hotels.

Love this hotel

The property was overall good. Unfortunately, there were a lot of issues during our stay. Didn’t get to sleep because of other rude guests fighting in the hallway during the hours of 1-3:30 am. We reported it but nothing was done. The phone wasn’t working so we were frightened to leave the room to get help. Ruined our weekend getaway. Disappointed.

All as it should be. Great coffee and breakfast.

The hotel was nice but from the first night we arrived there were guests arguing in the hallway outside our room. We mentioned it at the front desk the same thing happened the next night when we complained again nothing was done about it. This was happening between 1:00 am and 3:00 am.

Great location, great place. Only negative is no housekeeping with a 2 night stay. Didn't need bed made up but could have used coffee replenishment, refuse removed and a couple clean towels

Staff was wonderful and location is great. The room was located on the lower level. It was okay but seemed like someone's basement. Breakfast was okay but not great.
