Holiday Inn ALEXANDRIA - DOWNTOWN, an IHG Hotel

I have never had to do bad reviews. Seriously never! I arrived to Alexandria La late and contacted the hotel to inform them I would be late. A male asked me for my name and checked my information and said ok I will inform the night shift. I now arrived to the hotel late and upon my arrival the male that I spoke with about late arrival told me my booking was cancelled and the rooms were sold out. Mind you I’m from out of town and it’s late! He did not show any compassion only but it’s telling him my room is cancelled. What made it worse is that I had to ask him to call the manager 3 times! ?? Another employee arrived, I assumed she was the night shift, she called the manager and informed me the manager emailed me about being overbooked!!! I didn’t not receive that email! I’ve worked in customer service before and the empathy just wasn’t there. I wasn’t loud, rude disrespectful and again they just didn’t care and this is why I am leaving a review. Teach the employees in situations like this to have compassion for attendees like myself who drive 5 hours after work to be informed my booking was cancelled. I want to truly give a huge thanks to Ryan at Expedia!!! He expedited my booking to another hotel even though Fairfield INN dropped the ball! But Expedia thank you again for caring about my well being !!! That’s how you take care of your customers. That’s it. This the review , I still disgusted and still haven’t heard from the “GM” I’m pretty sure they will respond to this smh.

The room was clean.

We stay here every year for the Alexandria Kennel Club AKC dog show. Being connected to the River front Center means we are only steps from the show and where our dogs stay overnight.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Our tv in our room did not work, and the bathroom had discolored Sheetrock patches. We went downstairs for breakfast, and that was our biggest disappointment. The one guy working at the breakfast buffet was rude, and of no help at all. He was sure to constantly remind everyone that he was by himself and had no help. I could understand, except that it was not busy. The customers were trying to help each other because the employee would not.

We complained 3 times because two of the table lamps did not work. They had the tv set so you could not turn the Sound up. You had to sit within 3-4 feet to hear it. The bed was hard as a child OKC. I heard that same complaint from numerous people.

Best experience ever

It's as good as one can expect for Alexandria, LA. Customer service was exceptional though!

Everything was wonderful. The only thing was there is no complimentary breakfast unless you are a member. We had to pay for breakfast.
