Average hotel at best

The hotel was very welcoming, from the doorman opening the door and greeted me as I walked in to directing me to hotel check in area. It was very early in the day and Boston had one of their severe winter days and the check in person informed me that they would contact me once a room became available. As I awaited in the very comfortable hotel lounge area with ample seating and fireplace (oh yeah), I was contacted soon after that a room was available. The hotel’s location in the Back Bay Area is very nice, not too far from Little Italy and Chinatown. My room was very spacious and artfully decorated, with a king sized bed, sitting chair, desk area with chair, smart TV, etc. Also, had a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant, The Berkeley. The food experience was wonderful (crispy roasted chicken on garlic toast with watercress and chicken jus, and mixed berries clafoutis with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, were the highlights. The restaurant staff was awesome. Overall, great hotel experience and I will definitely stay here again when I visit Boston in the future.

We booked the premium room at the hotel, but it was not premium in any way. The lobby was very clean and modern, but the room was not. The carpet in the room was soft, and I can tell the room was once luxurious. It’s not anymore. There are stains on our sheet. Bathroom sink has mold like spots. The toilet does not work well - it struggles to refill the tank. Worst of all, the room was on the fourth floor and facing a major road, and it was very noisy. We were there for only one night and checked in quite late at around 9 pm. So, perhaps we got a bad room. I saw the review is so high, so expected it to be better. We visit the area often and feel like this hotel is worse than the standard room in many hotels nearby, including Hilton Back Bay, Marriott at Copley place, Copley square hotel, and Westin Hotel.

This hotel is pretty clean and conveniently located nearby cafes, restaurants and shopping. The hotel is modern. The rooms are pretty clean. Highly recommended.

Facilities well kept and maintained. Hotel very quiet and clean which I like. Shower facility seems a bit old somehow, otherwise facilities all good. Staff responsive but feels a bit understaffed overall. Great experience overall and would stay again.

I think for the price did you pay for the hotel room they could throw in a free bottle of water they charge $10 for a bottle of water which is just stingy and then the floor tile in the shower is four since it’s already slipping and it could be very dangerous

This is a beautiful historic building. This room is so comfy. Love everything about it. Lots of different dining options in a walkable distance.

Excellent property. Felt safe and convenient to many locations. I walked everywhere and it was easy to get to the park, coffee shops, and other locations.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel! The service was outstanding, with staff going above and beyond to make our family experience memorable. Our room was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which added to our comfort. The location was perfect, allowing us to easily walk to various attractions and explore the city with our kids. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone!

Let me start off by saying the staff here are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The best part of our stay! This is our second visit at AKA Back Bay. This time around didn’t wow me as much. My husband loved the coffee bar in the lobby (part of why I rebooked). However, now there’s just renovating going on. Yes, coffee makers are in the room, but who makes room coffee? For a $40 “resort” charge what did we get? We were so thirsty after walking the city and just wanted some water. The room had Voss at $10 a bottle! We ended up walking to a CVS and got 4 drinks for the same amount. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and never mind a resort fee if there are little touches that warrant it. Nothing here though. It was a chilly night so I ran a nice bath. Then discovered hair on the tub which was not mine. Lastly, be ready to pay $68 for valet, not counting tip in and out. I know it’s Boston, but most hotels around here are much less. The room was so reasonable, except by the time we were done all the extras really added up. I am not a cheap person and understand the value of location and cleanliness. However, there are so many options in this city, I will be choosing a different one next time. Staff…you rock still…best ever!

The customer service was outstanding, beautiful hotel and the staff is ready to tend to whatever happens and go above and beyond to make things right when they do. We will definitely come back to this hotel next time we’re in Boston… Thanks Ryan Stephan

The valet parking fee was crazy, I parked in a lot nearby. The was a DESTINATION fee of $35.00 that I paid that didn’t make any sense.
