Under new management and they were very helpful, polite, and seem to be moving the hotel in a great direction. The building, rooms and pool were all updated since last time I was there a few years ago and the hotel itself is in a perfect location. I highly recommend staying here.

I did not have any expectations for the property. I lived in the area for a number of years. My daughter learned to swim in the pool almost 50 years ago. I was pleased to be there.

The front desk service was very polite, courteous and friendly. The hallway to our room had an awful mildew smell and our door felt sticky. Upon entering the room there as no smell however there was rust around the shower floor and paint was all chipped and walls looked dirty and could use a paint job. The rug felt dirty so I never took my socks off. This hotel needs a major upgrade all around. The two positive comments was the front desk, he was great and the location was great as well!

When I checked as soon as got in the room I noticed the garbage had not been taken out there were stains on the walls and place was disgusting. Not to mention the blood or something stains on the bed. I was checked out not even five minutes later and they refused to refund my money.

The hotel is very outdated. I felt like it was not the cleanest place. Expensive. The same price as nicer hotels. The only reason we picked that one was because it was off the highway and easy to get on the road to go home. I will never go to a Howard Johnson again. I got home and couldn't wait to get into the shower.

The property is very updated on the outside and in the lobby. The room itself was nice - that bathrooms showed caulking and age but was clean. The value was good and the front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Location was convenient on/off highway and to aquarium.
BUT - the sliding glass doors from the room to the outside were not really very secure - I was on the first floor. The side entrance doors from the outside into the hotel had key slots but they were not working so the doors were open to anyone. When I pulled down the bedspread the blanket had two burn holes in it.
So overall mixed feelings. It says HJ by Wyndham so I expected more.

Great location!
Rooms are fine.
Some inconsistencies in the rooms. One had a hairdryer the other didn’t, one had a coffee maker the other didn’t.
It looks like they are making updates in some areas, so hopefully in future all rooms will be updated .

The hotel is very nice. There are porches and chairs outside of rooms in the first floor. You can walk out to parking lot directly from room. Room was clean and has all the necessary amenities. Feels convenient to stay for days. Pool opens daily. The hotel is close to Mystic aquarium. Walking distance to sea port and plenty of restaurants. A family friendly place.

The staff was very friendly and the bed was comfortable and the lobby was nice but the carpet in the common areas was disgusting. There was black mold on the curtain on the stairs. The full length mirror on the bathroom door was quite dirty. I would not stay there again.

It was a clean nice place to stay. Fresh paint and carpets. But an old building. Remember back when people could smoke in hotels, well that smoke smell is embedded in the walls, ceiling and floors. All the paint and carpet changing will not remove that smell.
The location was great . Walking distance to some really good restaurants and Mystic Village.

I was given a key to my assigned room. Then when I unlocked and entered my room it was someone else’s room and they were in there. It was unsafe & frightened the other guests and myself.

Hallways were very dirty. Saw what I think was a fake cockroach in windowsill walking up to second floor beds were comfortable bathtub need a renovation bad Was close to everything and very quiet at night
