Aloha. Yes the Kauai inn is a very historically old property and the rooms could use an update remodel but are spotless with a good foam mattress and all in perfect working condition. I understand a few rooms have been remodeled. I suggest that you request a room on first floor with a patio out the back. Only a few buildings have patios. Wonderful thick beach towels and even a new beach chair was available to borrow. It is very quiet in an area on a less travelled road to get to but only 10 minutes to reach major shopping, restaurants and airport in the shadow of a big mountain. Compare free parking, a light continental breakfast and lovely uncrowded small pool area to the much more expensive, large crowded hotels. here you can enjoy a real vacation with 1 minute walk over to the canoe club grounds with quiet waters near the harbor. I had the pool area all to myself one late morning in a fully booked hotel while others went site seeing.
A perfect location to venture from to reach South Kauai beaches and sites or to North Kauai. I totally recommend and I will be back on my next Trip to Kauai. Mahalo

Very traditional quaint hotel. Free parking, free WiFi, free continental breakfast, free beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Lots of roosters, hens, peacocks, peahens, and small cats.

Ot is an old inn. If they kept up with repairs it would be a very nice place to stay. Jalousie window locks were broken so didn’t feel safe. AC very loud, hard to hear tv and kept me up most of the night. People are nice though. Microwave and house phone not working. Hope they fix their units.

We had a great time at Kauai Inn. The view is breathtaking, the hotel is surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Kauai. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The staff was very helpful and wonderful, we even enjoyed the chickens, roosters and peacocks. They have live music and a truck that comes to the hotel once a week, I believe it was on Wednesday, that makes pizza. It was delicious. Breakfast was amazing and they have free parking. They also provide beach towels. Will stay there again and again.

This hotel is absolutely amazing! Older buildings but redone. Currently repainting. Comfortable bed, very friendly atmosphere! People are fantastic! Owner Phillip is friendly and accommodating! Quiet! Maids friendly and trustworthy! Only negative is the roosters crowing, but they are protected so nothing can be done!

We loved the personal attention, travel tips and Hawaiian history from the owner. Breakfast every morning, with fruit from their property, was a treat and live evening music was enchanting. The property is being worked on so the quality likely differs between rooms. If we're lucky enough to visit Hawaii again, I would want to stay at the Kauaii Inn again.

The staff was super helpful and very friendly. They let us in hours early cleaning the room as soon as someone left. We had been stranded overnight in the airport and hadn’t slept and they let us in not earlier than our check in time and that was really appreciated. They also offered us breakfast when we showed up and let us Lounge around the pool, trying to catch some snoozes, really helpful and greatly appreciated.

The INN IS OLD but clean. We stayed only 1 night. Staff very friendly and helped us get a taxi booked at 11pm at night for the next morning. The taxi was someone she knew.
The grounds are well maitained and lovely, nicepool, but we did not go in it.

Kauai Inn is a unique and one of a kind place. The owner even made coffee for us! It is not part of a chain, but a locally owned place in a quiet setting
