Staff was friendly without overdoing it. Very comfortable place, felt right at home. The wine hour was a pleasant bonus. The bathroom was new and super-clean. I loved the kitchenette, walked a couple of blocks to Whole Foods, brought back food I could cook at "home." Walkable distance to places I wanted to go - downtown, the alphabet district of NW, the Park Blocks, museums, etc. The room did not have a view, but was very, very quiet. I will definitely return!

Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We loved having in-and-out privileges for the paid parking. Cute intimate setting, with a very walkable neighborhood, with some of our favorite places nearby!

Heater didn't work well. It never got above 66. Then they gave me a space heater, and that didn't work well either. Temperature never got above 68. Expected better for the stars

I love the location of this hotel! The staff are friendly and the price is fair. The rooms are starting to look a bit old - stained carpet, chipped paint, but for the price I do love it and stay here over and over again on trips to Portland.

The staff here is amazing, helpful and friendly. The place, while older, has a retro vibe and is super clean and neat. The bedding was the softest, most comfortable I've ever slept in! The hotel is centrally located in the Pearl District, just a block from Powell Book Store and numerous restaurants. The only issue we had was that it was rather noisy, including lots of "old building" sounds as well as traffic and slamming doors. But all in all, we loved it, and it was reasonably priced.

My car was broken into while parked at the hotel lot. I understand that it’s a neighborhood issue but still wish there were more security, especially around the hotel property.

A lovely night in the heart of the city. A couple blocks from Powells and tons of restaurants! The hotel is a bit older with a little wear but it’s charming. The hotel robe is dreamy. The bed was wonderful. I’d stay again for sure.

We really like the Mark Spencer. A friend introduced us to it. Located right near Powell’s, it’s an older building and a relief to be in a genuinely decorated hotel rather than chain buildings. Good coffee in the lobby, usable gym, great location. I don’t know if the hotel is backing off the perfumed cleaning products or was proactive with our request to not have scented products used in our room, but it was so appreciated to be in a clean, spotless room that didn’t smell strongly of fragrance. Yay! I genuinely appreciate the creative feel, wonderful location proximate to Powell’s and the analog, old school warmth of this good hotel. We look forward to our next Portland escape and will definitely stay here again.
