Sonesta Denver Downtown

Good place to stay.

I had a disappointing experience at the Sonesta Hotel in Denver. The room was dimly lit with a view of a parking structure, which was far from inviting. The bed and pillows were the only redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, the room didn't meet basic expectations, and we decided to check out early from what was supposed to be a two-night stay. I brought my concerns to the front desk before noon, but received no real support or resolution. It wasn't until I informed them we were leaving that they told me we wouldn't be refunded for the second night--because it was after the official checkout time. So not only was the room subpar, but the customer service also left a lot to be desired. The staff member who checked us in was warm and welcoming, but the morning front desk rep was dismissive and unhelpful. I would not recommend this property. In fact, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Thanks, Expedia, for at least making the process of booking easy--even if the stay itself wasn't...even though you didnt help me recoup my monies.

The AC blasted the bed. I hid beneath the covers.

Rooms are clean but no ice machines available. Front desk check in was nice and easy. That’s as nice as it gets. Waited over an hr to get our meal from dining option. Paid over $125 for 2 people. Horrible food. Inedible. Had to be returned. Asked to be removed from my room bill. I didn’t feel well afterwards. I don’t think I’ll visit again.

The peephole was missing, allowing people in the lobby to see inside the room. Additionally, room service was not provided even though I requested it in the morning.

Probably the easiest check in I’ve ever experienced. Room is super clean and bed is comfy!

Hotel and staff was great. Location was close to everything and within walking distance to various places.

It’s alright. People at frond desk don’t smile and or even bother to say thank you or have a nice day. They are short.

I wasn’t really happy with my stay because I specifically booked this hotel because it says it has a pool. No where on the description did it say the pool was closed. When I arrived I asked about the pool and they said they didn’t have one available. The weather was around 65 degrees that day and my dad and I were looking forward to get into the pool. I was just in Austin Texas and the pools were open. The front desk told me it was not the season for pools, which was absurd because we’re in April (I visited at the end of march) and it was 60 degrees outside.

There were cockroaches in my room, which thoroughly grossed me out. While I was immediately moved to a new room seven floors away, the memory of those roaches was so disgusting I decided to leave a night early despite the fact that I had pre-paid for three nights. I should note that I did not see roaches in the new room, but any roach anywhere in a facility is one roach to many for me. The entire hotel seems like it's in need of a refresh. The paint is old and grimy, the beds are uncomfortable, and I would never stay here again, especially at $250 a night. The front desk attendant who switched my room the first night was very nice (he gave me two bottles of water and some free breakfast certificates to make up for the infestation), but the rest of the team seems pretty disillusioned with the place. That said, the front desk attendant who checked me out did remove the incidentals from my bill (a bag of chips and a glass of wine), though he was not apologetic. He seemed like he'd been through this drill before. Maybe that's why he told me to let Expedia know about my experience, so that's exactly what I'm doing. Dear Sonesta Denver: You can do better. Start with a thorough fumigation. Then thoroughly clean and renovate the place. It needs it.
