We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop is a lovely place to watch the sun go down, we brought our drinks up from the bar. Our room was clean and spacious with a very comfy bed and excellent pillows!

Very nice following renovations. Did not like the new way of doing breakfast. Advertises free but only sweet carbs are free. Also parking is now 30$ a day but you still need to worry about moving your vehicle if it rains hard

The hotel is beautifully decorated and very well located right in the heart of Charleston.
Our check in experience was extremely disappointing. The gentleman on reception was very abrupt and hostile. Definitively not what you would expect from someone working in hospitality. He was not very forthcoming with information and even when we asked questions, he was very reluctant to answer and even rolled his eyes.

Room smelled very musty. No hot water in room, at best it was lukewarm or cold. Told staff and there only comment was sorry no one else said anything. It’s a very nice hotel as far as architecture and decorating. Bright spot was the roof top access and bar. The bartender was very friendly. She was the highlight of the staff. Everyone else couldn’t be bothered.

So bummed to not be able to give this stay 5-stars. Even though the room was so beautiful, the lack of general hospitality shown by staff was disappointing. It had a "down" feeling about the place. Even housekeepers would barely say good morning back to you or return a smile. Throughout the evening, you could hear the ambient music playing while in our room. I'm a frequent traveler of CHS and decided to try this property, but unfortunately I'd rather have a smaller room with a more hospitable environment than one that's large with little amenities or general kindness.
