Absolutely stunning hotel! The atmosphere blends historic charm with modern elegance. The lobby features original wooden beams that add a warm, rustic touch, perfectly complemented by the beautifully curated decor throughout the space. I especially loved the quaint bar—intimate and stylish, with a great selection. One of the highlights was the hidden speakeasy-style poker room tucked away in the lounge. It added such a unique and fun element to the stay. Highly recommend for anyone looking for character and comfort in one place.

I stayed here for 4 nights this past week and thought it was a very nice and unique hotel. I had a beautiful room that faced Bay St. It was a short walk to the downtown area and close to everything else. The front desk people were very nice and welcoming and I loved chatting with them. The grocery store across the street was very convenient. The rooftop area was really nice to watch the sunset. I'd recommend this hotel for its uniqueness, lovely staff, peacefulness and proximity to downtown.

Very nice property in a very good location! Customer service is great, parking is convenient! Rooms are very good! Just gave it 4 stars vs 5 due to lack of food service and quality! All else is great and if food is not important then it gets 5 stars!

The ansonborough is a charming and welcoming place with a character that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Staff is super and conveniently located to bistros and Charleston happenings. Complimentary continental breakfast in a box was disappointing. An on site continental breakfast with pastries cereal and fruit options a better way to go. Otherwise would highly recommend, great people, location and hotel

Staff was great and accommodating. Room was very nice, the shower head is the best! Didn't realize continental breakfast was just juice, fruit, and muffin, but no worries plenty of places to eat in Charleston! Would definitely stay there again. Never did make it up to the rooftop, went for my daughters college graduation, just not enough time, but I wish I had checked it out.

The Ansonborough was a great hotel for our anniversary weekend. A 5 minute walk to Market St and tons of shops and restaurants. The staff there was super friendly, and we enjoyed drinks/charcuterie and music at the Rooftop garden. It’s a great value for the price we paid, particularly when comparing vs the cost of 5 star and other 4 star hotels in the area. We would definitely stay there again.

I booked the Luxury King Room at The Ansonborough Inn in Charleston for my daughter’s College of Charleston graduation — a momentous weekend that this hotel utterly ruined. From the moment we checked in, things were off. The entire hotel’s internet was down, which wasted time as we tried to settle in. But that was nothing compared to what came next. After returning from a celebratory dinner, we got comfortable — only to discover bugs crawling all over the comforter and in the sheets. Not one or two, but dozens. Absolutely revolting. It was late, we were exhausted, and now we had to pack up and switch rooms. The staff moved us to a smaller, cheaper room with a broken TV. At least it was bug-free — I suppose that passes for luxury here. The next morning, I inquired about the discount the night staff assured us we would receive, and was met with a rude, dismissive attitude: “Our internet isn’t working, we’ll get to it.” No apology. No urgency. No basic hospitality. Got home, checked my credit card — and of course, they charged me full rate. Full rate, after a bug infestation, a downgraded room with no TV, and a staff that couldn’t be bothered. This place is a disaster. Do yourself a favor: stay literally anywhere else.

Our room on the third floor was well designed, comfortable, attractive (with high ceilings), well equipped (sink, mini fridge, and high resolution TV) and overall well-maintained. The king bed needs a new mattress as it was too soft in the mid area. The downstairs bar area was very quiet (empty) most of the time -- not what we were expecting. All personnel whom we encountered were friendly and welcoming. Location is excellent -- within easy walking distance of restaurants and a large market.
