The Catrina Hotel

Looks like it was remodeled on a budget so purely aesthetic. Floor paneling was coming loose, bathroom had no ventilation and had mold in the window ceil. Otherwise comfortable bed and safe grounds.

Really terrible hotel. Can stay in much better places for similar price. Beds were extremely broken in and uncomfortable, my neck and back were killing me after the little bit of sleep I was able to get. Manager extremely unhelpful. Can hear highway from rooms. Shower curtain not long enough to block water from spilling onto bathroom floor. Overall would not recommend.

Nobody on site for this checkin. Had a video screen asking for my I.D. and credit card and the person had a foreign accent. I was not comfortable with the unusual arrangement and will never stay at this Hotel. We went to another normal hotel.

Excellent place to stay. Super clean and modern. Friendly staff and easy check in.

The stairs the take you to second floor has a bad smelling. And doesn’t look clean at all.

Check in was fun! Walk up to a screen, talk to a live agent who appears to be there, easy. And it turns out the agent is in Colombia!!!

Nice spot in San Mateo if you need a quick layover. Jack’s is a great restaurant and is walkable

The walls are not soundproof; I could hear the TV in the room next to me and a party/gathering in the room beneath me. Turning on the wall unit fan helped a bit at night but not in the morning. Also the floor in my room could have used a good swiffer wetjet or something, and I would not recommend walking around barefoot before getting into bed lol. Otherwise the room is super secure and the check-in process was very smooth, and I really appreciated the convenience of having my room code, wifi password, and other necessary details in one email that I could reference anytime. The bed was also pretty comfy!

Overall the place was ok - I thought they had breakfast but they did not. It was a little weird there was nobody in the office. It appeared to be managed remotely by someone in Bogata Columbia. They sent me a code for my room. Also it isn't a hotel, it is a motel with all rooms having an outdoor exit. The area didn't seem especially safe and we could hear the people in the room next to us. We will not be staying there again.

First of all we were freaked out at the number of terrible reviews I read once we had booked this room. We were relieved to find out that the majority of peoples complaints were unfounded. We were checked in by a lovely young woman and not the virtual check-in everyone seemed to be so upset about. I'm not service of that check-in option had been discontinued or if the system was down. Nonetheless check in was a breeze. The room is small but has everything you need for a short stay. The bed was comfortable. There was a coffee make, a small refrigerator , a large TV with good picture and streaming options and 2 complimentary bottles of water. The shower was modern with good water pressure. There is limited counter space in the bathroom but it is functional. Most importantly the room was clean. Parking is free and there are no expensive resort fees. We were there for a medical procedure the following morning at UCSF. For us The Catrina offered exactly what we required and I would stay again if needed.

Very mediocre - we saw negative reviews about the check-in process (there is a computer monitor that shows a human video calling in from a remote location), the soap (there were three giant screw top bottles of soap: one called "hand soap", one called "shampoo", and one called "shampoo conditioner" which sucked. Nothing labeled body soap), and the neighbor (police came to the room next to ours and lead someone away in handcuffs). On top of all of this, the bathroom window was COVERED in mold and we saw ants throughout the bathroom.

It is well kept. Its clean and the rooms are nice. Its very close to the event center.

The room was very poorly cleaned. Hair was all over the shower and the floors were very dirty.
