Very clean and modern for an older building. Having heard so many horrible things about San Fransisco over the past 10 years i was surprised that the San Mateo area was as nice as it was.

I’ve stayed at the Catrina several times while visiting family in the area. It’s clean, comfortable, affordable and convenient. Checking in, with someone on video is a wee bit dystopian, but it works. I recommend grabbing a bite act Heidi’s Pies nearby for some good old fashioned human interaction

I was on there one night but it was a great night. Check in was fast and easy (which was great because I was pretty tired). The room was nice and clean. But most importantly, it was quiet. The neighborhood was good. I walked across the street to the Japanese restaurant and got a great meal to go. Plenty of towels and complimentary coffee and water in the room. The bed was great! Lots of pillows (non with the Catrina skull like in the images, which was fine 😉). Definitely staying here again.

Convenient virtual check-in/out. Only thing my shower was not draining at all! I'd be showering with feet submerged in dirty water. I asked for that to be fixed twice but nothing happened. Also, the sheets and towels were worn out and dingy looking with stains.
