The Classic Desert Aire Hotel

Easy travel to/from White Sands NP. Friendly/helpful staff. The hotel is located just off of Highway 70 so lots of the standard chain food options close-by.

I am pretty easy to please, but I was fairly annoyed with this stay. The property is old and most issues probably relate to that. After moving all of our gear into the room, we noticed that the curtains wouldn't close completely, leaving an 8" gap. We used safety pins to close them. Hot water for showers was hit or miss. Sometimes the water was hot. At other times it was only lukewarm. There were not enough electrical outlets for us to charge our electronics. I got a power strip to deal with this. The breakfast was not very good and was confusing. My wife got charged for things she assumed were free.

I spent a week at this hotel. I have to be in town every couple of months for a week or so and was looking for a nice place to stay. The first couple of days were noisy from some remodeling work being done upstairs, when that was done the hot water in the shower didn't work for the last 3 days of my stay. When i brought it up to the staff they didn't seem to concerned and didn't even apologize for any of the inconvenience. I'm sure there's a better places to stay

The air conditioner rattled all night. Ran out of hot water during my shower. Few towels. Soap dispenser in shower was either low on soap or not working properly. TV small for 2005 (pathetically so for 2025). They have one pet policy online, and a different, more stringent pet policy after you book your reservation and get there. Somebody should ask the DA to prosecute them for fraud. I give two stars because the place was clean, and because there are limited alternatives in the area.

Amazing Experience!! John was Super helpful as our trip from Salt Lake City, UT was running late. But make sure we still got checked in and had a clean room waiting. Susan was also Great when we called during the day. Thank you so much Everyone!!

Where to start? First, the first-floor room the lady says we were reserved for wasn’t ready at check-in (which was supposed to be at 4 pm). No apology given, instead was given a response of “Have you had dinner yet? Here’s a pamphlet of restaurants. Here’s a pamphlet of things to do”. When I pressed for a time frame that the room would be ready, I basically got a blank look and non-commitment of a time we could check in. The lady said “That room is being inspected”. What does that even mean? When we came back, the guy on duty did not give us the ground floor room we were told we would get when we tried to check in at 4 pm, but instead we were given a second floor room. So then I inquired about having a late check out, was initially told “Sure”, then he backtracked immediately and said “Well, actually a late checkout will be $25”. Lastly, the lady ahead of me at the check-in (the second try) said that the internet wasn’t working, to which the guy replied “There’s too many people online right now, just try later”. The main room itself has no overhead lights, and it took some finagling of one of the lights to the illuminate the ceiling, so it wasn’t so dark in the room. The two queen beds are of different heights (that’s just weird). The tv remote control seems to only work when standing right in front of the tv. I guess we’ll see how the rest of the stay goes. I might need to add more to the review.

Would totally stay here again! Room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was great.

We tried to check in an hour earlier on our way to White Sands National Park so we didn't have to go to the NP Visitors Center and then cone back to the hotel, but we had no luck in that endeavor. We w we re asked to come back at 4pm! Before we left we were asked whether we preferred lower or upper level room - we requested lower level. When we did eventually come back to check in, we were asked whether we preferred lower or upper level - ugh... anyway, we were assigned rokm 100, right by the main boulevard!!! When we asked for something else in the lower level, we were told room 100 was the last lower level room! Yes, it was noisy by the road. The EV charger on the premises was broken. For breakfast, we ordered off the classic menu, which was perfect!
