The Morgan Hotel San Simeon

The stay was fine. Very convenient to the Hearst Castle. Only complaint were the mattresses in our room. One was very lump you could feel the springs. The other was ok but getting old. They need to replace the mattresses.

This is a very clean hotel with beautiful plants all around the outside of the building. Rooms have detailed drawings by Julia Morgan of Hearst Castle areas. The breakfast offers lots of choices.

We like Morgan Hotel because it is quiet and it is close to Moonstone Beach and San Simeon Pier. The thing that we didn’t like is we founds ants at the coffee maker counter inside the room. My husband addressed it to the Front Desk and he was told to let him know again if the ants comes back 😆. But all in all, our stay was pleasant.

Staff are nice. Quiet. Enjoyed our stay. Manta Rey and cavalier kitchen restaurants were great.

The hotel is really outdated and makes the entire stay mediocre at best. The wall heater kept falling when it would turn on and make a loud noise. When I booked it had a high rating and good reviews, I was shocked when we arrived and saw a dim dated room.

The Morgan is a decent hotel in the San Simeon area, just minutes away from Hearst castle and Cambria. I thought the check in and out process was easy. The beds were comfortable enough, and it was clean enough. I would say though this is not "boutique" by any stretch of the imagination. I've stayed in actual boutique hotels, this is basically like a Hampton Inn. There is nothing boutique about it. Skip the breakfast (if you can call it that?) here and walk down to the Cavalier (they do a great breakfast!). As for the room itself- just standard. I did like that the chairs were covered so maybe they actually wash the covers (they looked pretty clean). I'm not sure how this place would honestly be in the summer. It does have windows, but San Simeon can get hot and there was no air conditioning in our room.

The hotel is beautiful, rooms clean and compfy. Staff was nice and welcoming

Hotel was ok. Out dated. Loved the fireplace in the bedroom. Nothing really close that was good food wise. And NO elevators. 16 steps to the second floorwith two heavy suitcase and no one offered to help us carry them up

We’ve stayed here many times. The theme is real artwork from Julia Morgan…Hearst Castle architect.

John checked me in and was exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Answered all my questions and super efficient. Room was roomy, good features. Only complaint was that TV showed dozens of movies and shows that are only available as Pay Per View.

The staff at the Morgan is excellent especially John at the front desk. The room were comfortable nice view of the ocean quiet

The water pressure for showers was great. The room was clean and quiet. The hill view wasn't great, but we spent more time outside looking at the beautiful views than looking out the hotel window. Pillows were soft and the bed comfortable, but it seemed like the sheets may not have been the right size. The fireplace (uses gas) really did add to the feel of the room. Didn't get a chance to try out the pool, but it looked good and was heated. I enjoyed all the art around the hotel that was from Hearst Castle. The breakfast in the morning was basic, but good. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but Cambria is also a short drive for more options. Hearst Castle is also close by, which was our main goal for the trip. We got a chance to see the zebras in the field close to the hotel, so that was a lot of fun. There is beach access just a short walk from the hotel, which was nice. The staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Overall, you could tell it was an older hotel, but I would recommend.

The property is near the ocean and a short drive to the Hearst Castle.

Great fire place, very quiet and peacefully

Great breakfast buffet. Mattresses need a major upgrade, my back was killing me. The heaters are antique and maybe next time a nice blanket on the bed would serve me better.

On the whole, the hotel is not what I had expected ….
