TownePlace Suites Roswell, NM – A Marriott in Name Only We just wrapped up a weekend stay here, and to put it bluntly: I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone unless your idea of comfort is low expectations and high tolerance. From the moment we walked in, the place felt old, worn-out, and strangely lifeless—like it’s been hanging on by a thread since 2009 and no one’s told it yet. For some reason, this is one of the very few hotels in Roswell that charges for parking—despite being in a town where you could practically land a UFO in the lot and no one would blink. There are no EV chargers onsite, which in 2025 is just sad. Our room had a fridge that was hotter than the actual room (which is saying something), the walls and floors were so thin we could hear every single footstep, voice, and mystery thud—not just from our stompy upstairs neighbor, but across the hotel like we were in a dorm. The shower? A relic of the ‘90s. A tiny, slippery tub pulling away from the wall with visible mold—basically a lawsuit waiting to happen. Housekeeping never showed up for either night of our stay, but honestly, we were relieved no one had to come in. Small win. The front desk staff was polite enough, but…creepy. Not outright rude, just unsettling in that “I’ve seen too many horror movies” way. The hotel is also inconveniently located, sitting further from Main Street than other hotels in the same price range—hotels that are way newer, better maintained, and more pleasant overall.

Great place

Check-in was very easy, and the location was also easy to navigate for someone not familiar with the area. It was very quiet and peaceful, and I never heard any neighbors.

The staff is really great here!!!

Staff were incredibly nice and helpful. However, trying to get suitcases into the normal front door was a nightmare. Picture one autistic child, four big suitcase, and two tired adults trying to wheel into an average size door. I would say spring for automatic sliding glass doors like every other hotel.

This hotel is just what you would expect for a budget accommodation. Though the breakfast had some of the worst bacon we've ever encounter - it was not edible. But by far the worst part of the stay is that we were charged for parking with no prior communication that this would happen or the option to opt out. When we check-in the woman at the front did not mention it and it's not anywhere on the Hotels.com webpage. When I complained about it the next day at check out the person at the front desk was rude and tried to tell me I knew about it - which I did not. The charge was ultimately removed but it was a bad experience. To try and "secretly" charge for parking in the small town of Roswell is completely unreasonable. Buyer beware.

Breakfast was very good

We loved everything about the property except THE PULLOUT SOFA! It’s not a pull out sofa. It’s a fold out terrible sleeping thing!! But we loved the size of the room, it was clean and quiet.

Didn’t get the room I reserved, night was very loud, night staff was very nice.

The good...The staff is very friendly. The room was clean and had nice amenities. The not so good... the $100 non-refundable pet fee was not listed anywhere when i booked the room through Expedia. Also, i don't get the $10 parking fee for a non-secure public parking spot around the building.

Great customer service

Room was spacious and clean, with temperature control for heating or cooling and you can choose the Fahrenheit you want. A pleasant surprise - the room was equipped with kitchen utensils, ceramic plates, bowls, mugs, and dishwashing soap & sponge. So I could eat my takeaway food in my room with a real plates and metal fork & knife. The phone in the room was not working. But the reception staff kindly helped me make a local call (free). The wardrobe was in the toilet. The wardrobe had a double door, and on one sides the door handle fell out when I pulled the wardrobe door open. The car park was charged at $10 per night’s stay. Breakfast was the usual hamburger patty, scrambled eggs, make-your-own waffles, fruits, juices, toast, coffee/tea. Location is convenient, short drive to restaurants & supermarkets. I would have rated it 5 , if not for the charged parking and the phone & wardrobe door handle.

Hotel was clean, staff was super friendly, and loved all the unexpected amenities that came with our room! From a dishwasher, to pots and pans, and a mini stove, this room had everything we needed for our week-long stay. I fully enjoyed my time at this hotel and found it very convenient location wise to explore all that Roswell had to offer. Highly recommend and will come back here again.
