University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center Springfield

The dinner quality is not good for the price paid and the time waiting for it. It was simple food, but the bartender was good service. My children had to us one good towel and a couple unfortunately a used towel to dry off because the front staff was not in a hurry to help us get towels. My wife went to the front desk and so did I to ask for towels because they had none at the pool. It was only my two boys swimming and the lady I talked to at night 2/14/2025 at the front desk could have cared less so we had to be hostage at pool waiting for nothing and nobody for simple towels. If your staff can't get someone to bring towel and serve your guest, then find people that will. We were tired and wanted to go to our room. Had to wait in long line to buy enery drink in the morning at coffee shop with only one worker to finally be told we could buy the drinks at front desk. Honestly, the hotel needs to have a meeting and get the workers to get a grip on why they are there and who they need to serve. People pay their hard earned money and travel to stay there, the least you could do is your job and also sometimes when you cant get help from other workers, you have to do it yourself. There was one customer me, and two workers at desk, you could have made it happen, but didn't. It wasn't "VIP" at all.

Good things: easy parking and check-in. The bed and pillows are comfortable. Why I will not stay again: Our room is beyond outdated. I would give cleanliness a 1. The bathroom floors and counters were dirty. There was mold on the floor, and the bathroom door would not shut. The room smelled musky. The doorstop is disintegrating. The carpet is gross. The doors are scratched up. There are no outlets around the bed.

The bed felt like he had not been changed since 1994. On top of that, our heat didn’t work and it was freezing out.

Our stay at the University Plaza Hotel was very good. The rooms are outdated but clean. The couch bed mattress left a lot to be desired, but they usually do. It also had numerous stains and no mattress cover. We had to go down and request bedding for it. The staff was pleasant and did deliver it to our room. Overall, a good experience and would stay again as it was very conveniently located and clean.

Really disappointed. Looks great online and the lobby is nice but the rooms are in total disrepair. You can see in the rooms from the hallway. Everything was old and outdated and no blackout curtains so the lights from the street shine in.

I appreciated the shuttle service and the gentleman was kind.

The rooms were very outdated and the shower and shower walls and ceilings were falling apart. The doors looked like rats chewed out of them. Parking lot was not cleared if snow in a timely manner and was not salted either, so it was very slippery.

Just need updated rooms.

The air vent in the room was extremely loud. We stayed 2 nights and didn’t get the room clean or receive new towels.

There was no heat in my room. Price for no heat was not right

We land in this hotel for years. They have a huge nice lobby with quite seating area to conduct business meetings or interviews etc.

We’ve stayed here at this property 3 times. The rooms are decent. It is very quiet, the lobby is gorgeous , has a coffee shop inside that is good, and the staff member was AMAZING. However, the rooms are outdated, the mattresses aren’t really comfortable, and the tub in our room was moving while in the shower a little bit. For the price, we expected a little better accommodations. I think next time we’re going to find someplace else in Springfield. Disappointing.

I arrived to a dishevled sofa with cushions on the ground. There was trash shoved into the sofa cracks, behind the bed, and inside of the nightstands. The dropped ceiling in the shower had broken and missing tiles making you wonder if there are cameras hidden. The curtains were shredded and there were loud "bangs" from doors opening and closing all night. This is a run down place mascarading as upscale. Spend half on another place and be 100x happier and well rested. Trust me...

So this was my first time staying here but had frequented the hotel many times for conventions and gatherings. I liked the lobby and atrium but the service was terrible. Was checked in by a tween boy who didnt want to be there with no interest in my stay or well being he pretty much tossed my keys and bolted. We stayed two nights and needed towels and was told there was none and they might bring us some later but that didnt happen. I asked the cleaning lady who had a full stack of towels stuffed in between her and the cart and she nor her helper spoke any english. I always make an effort to explain this when I check out but was givin the same hospitality as when I checked in. I asked if there was anything they could do to help smooth over the stay and she looked around and found drink vouchers that was for Expedia bookings....WHICH I WAS and when your leaving.... lol so that just added salt to the wound. Anyways its a nice place just don't expect extra towels or friendliness.

The lobby was nice and the room was clean. It was good for a place to sleep with not a lot of extra amenities.

No hot water in shower or sink. I had this problem 3 other times I stayed. For some reason I just keep coming back and blaming it on the room. I’ve stayed here many times for work and it seems to get worse every time. Place has great potential but really needs an update. Everything is old and outdated. You’ll never have hot water to shower. I’ve stayed 30 times but this last time will be my last. Worse and worse and worse each time I go. Time before this I had a random guy come into my room with a key, notified desk and it wasn’t a worker just a random guy they gave a key too. And once again then no hot water. Place was great 20 years ago. But not anymore. Stay at a motel 6 if you want an upgrade and that’s saying alot.

University Plaza is a tired hotel in downtown Springfield. It is in heavy need of a remodel, but the rooms are large and comfortable. It has a convenient location with easy walk to multiple restaurants.
