Ovolo South Yarra

The only downside was the mini bar. It had a very strange selection and the two items I did try as late night snacks were both awful. The staff were outstanding. Except for a high rise hotel in the cbd, the location was excellent in every way. Trams and trains within a five minute walk, bars, coffee, restaurants etc. all very close. Our room was perfect in size, there’s a smaller room for a few dollars cheaper but anything smaller than the room we had wouldn’t suit two people.

Great stay here and we have stayed a number of times, they have changed a few things at the hotel with the mini bar and inclusions but still a great hotel and will stay again

Restaurant is fully vegan. No doubt this is some kind of environmental statement by the Ovolo chain, but after a long trip I just wanted to relax rather than having to navigate my way around a taxing menu. There was no work desk in the bedroom

Friendly and extremely well run hotel. Great breakfast and location.

So glad I picked Ovolo. The room was beautiful, clean, stylish and filled with so many thoughtful amenities and features. I won’t stay anywhere else in Melbourne now

Have stayed a couple of times at the Ovolo South Yarra. Good location, clean, cool rooms, albeit small but with everything I need. No gym but an on site restaurant and friendly staff. This time the noise from outside from a scuffle on the street at 4:30am was a bit crazy and went for a fair while so a room not at the front and higher up would definately be recommended if staying on a Friday or Saturday.

Great stay - turned up 1.30am, no problem, late checkout offered and accepted. Room itself was snug (as described), had everything I needed, very clean, would definitely stay again. Terrific brekkie and coffee at Two Birds One Stone round the corner (5mins walk) down Claremont St. (Can I suggest to the late night staff that they don’t keep repeating your first name, it’s a bit over-familiar being called David ten times in five mins at 1.30am…but that said they were very courteous, they gave me a late checkout, and I was very grateful to be able to check in that late, after Lions rugby celebrations!) Only gripe is this Wotif review form which is broken!!)

The hotel is beautiful and great location but our room was so tinny and we even paid for bigger room

Sleep

there was a mouse in my room , i had to change the room staff was nice no complaints but then AC wasnt working in second room. I was too tired so i slept without AC and thanfully with no rodents around (hopefully) I have never seen a mouse in a hotel room before, I felt disgusted and Ovolo should take it seriously. Room 201, am sure your housekeeping staff must have mentioned a little mouse next day.

Two night stay in South Yarra. The room was the next level above budget and although it contained everything it was very compact and the glass bathroom was not to our liking! Very trendy but not to our taste! Otherwise location good, reception staff friendly, bed comfortable, noise level good, and very clean.

Perfect for weekend stay hanging space was the only item that wasn’t as well planned as the rest of the room.

Great location and facilities and good value.

It was accurately advertised as a very snug room, suitable just as a place to sleep for the night. Very clean and comfortable room. The music themed decorations were interesting. We were on the 2nd floor. Soundproofing was ok, there was very little noise from within the facility but there was a lot of noise from the street, especially the odd hoon car speeding up the street. That’s what you get along a bustling street of Melbourne on a Friday night. Latin inspired restaurant and bar looked amazing but we didn’t get the chance to use these facilities. Looked like it was a popular place to be. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants to choose from nearby. Check-in was quick and easy (loved the album shaped clip board we were given when completing the check-in form). Also, a nice touch were the lolly jars near the lifts for guests (yummy!). The one downside was the affiliated car park as it was a few minutes walk away. It’s really busy and hard to get parking outside the hotel when checking in or out with your luggage so you have to walk a distance with your luggage. Great place for young travellers, young couples or anyone wanting a place to rest after exploring this trendy shopping and restaurant strip.
