As we were seeing a show at the Lyric Theatre The Star was the most convenient hotel to stay at. On check in we were upgraded to a suite which was a nice treat. We had a Pyrmont view room so enjoyed a lovely sunset just after check in. We had a dining voucher included in our deal which we used at Fat Noodle. Delicious, authentic Asian meals served quickly, ideal to get us to our show on time. Our room was massive with huge bathroom plus a powder room. Comfortable lounge area and massive bed which was the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve ever slept in. Breakfast at Harvest Buffet was varied and delicious. We enjoyed a late check out so got to enjoy our luxury room a little longer. Will definitely stay at The Star again.

The Location is perfect for light rail transport.
Nice room, clean and quite perfect for city life. Dinning options were good, house keeping was spot on.
i will stay again. cheap price aswell for 3 nights.

Overall, we did like the place and we would stay again however our stars reflect the issues encountered during our stay.
The room was a great size and the king bed was comfy. We had a city view as well. We were told we were given a room upgrade however this wasn't the case. The room was what we paid for. The iron was good and the bathroom was big. The towels were a good size too!
Unfortunately, the room wasn't totally clean, with lights being quite dusty and the provided glassware not being clean.
We decided to order room service (first time ever). The food arrived and looked great. We had two dishes and both started off great. But then it all unravelled. We found a big clump of black hair in one of the meals. The meal was replaced quickly but....... We were still charged for the meal. Furthermore, the cutlery provided was also dirty (considerably). An apology was provided but nothing else.
On check-out, we weren't asked how our stay was, we weren't thanked for staying and we weren't welcomed back in the future (ie: we hope to see you again).
So, a nice room, good spot and okay service but let down on several fronts. Maybe they will read our review and try and make amends.

Front desk staff girls were welcoming and professional.
1 older male staff was rude and blunt when I ask if it was ok to take alcohol to the pool area, as most hotels have bars in pool area and this hotel didnt, he replied no with rude tone..
When I walk into our room , it look nice and clean, We went out that night and drinks , come back to hotel and straight to bed .. waking up the next day with a rash and itchy to find that the pillows cases were full of mould ..
The girls at again at front dest apologise and moved me to another room with was much nicer and cleaner ..
That was a nice gesture, but a high end hotel should check mould for health and safety reasons.

Inroom service dishes left in hallways for hours so it was not nice to walk between room to lifts and seeing trays and trolleys with left over food.
Stayed 4 nights and room was not cleaned before 3pm which made having an afternoon nap impossible.
Friday and Saturday nights very noisy with people leaving doors open and talking/yelling in hallways.
Rooms a good size, views nice, staff pleasant. Well located. Taxis at Rank reluctant to use meter and wanted cash and over charged.
