Mariposa Belize Beach Resort

We stayed at Mariposa when we arrived to Placencia and the last night before we returned home and it was perfect. Gladis was very welcoming at the reception, Donny was amazing at the restaurant and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. The bungalow was perfect for our family of 4, since they have bunk beds. The restaurant was good with a nice view of the ocean. They have nice swings, volleyball court, paddle boards and bicycles which is perfect to go in town. It’s less than 5 minutes drive from Placencia airport. The only thing is the ocean has so much seaweeds that it wasn’t nice to go in the water. Which is fine since we didn’t stay at this hotel for the ocean but just be aware that this strip of the island gets a lot of seaweeds…

The Mariposa was perfect from the start, even during our planning. They assisted us in our trip plans from Belize City to Placenia by booking our flights and providing information. They also provided transportation from the airport to the resort. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff and a tropical cocktail or mocktail. Our accommodations in the tree house exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had plenty of amenities. It is also beautiful. The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, accommodating, and resourceful. The food and drinks at the restaurant on premises were delicious. There was a good variety of options as well as some authentic Belizean dishes. When I travel outside the U.S., I enjoy experiencing other cultures. We were able to do that at the Mariposa. I’d like to mention that George, Miguel, Donny, and Gladys were exceptional. They went out of their way each and every time we wanted or needed anything. Donny really took special care of us in all aspects of our trip- food, recommendations for tours and places to eat or drink or shop. Gladys coordinated our tours for when we wanted to do them. The resort is beautiful and the staff is friendly and professional. The complimentary bikes and kayaks were a plus.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped with setting up tours and finding anything you needed. Our room was clean and very nice with great view of the ocean. Resort was quiet and relaxing.

We stayed here our second time in Belize- we love the setting and the staff are top notch!

We loved our stay at the Mariposa Resort. The staff were really attentive, giving us kindly advice on how to deal with the bug bites and itching. The only drawback of this and other properties is it is not walkable to anywhere. Rent a car or golf cart

We were not too impressed with the restaurant food for dinner. We waited over an hour and the watermelon salad was pretty much just watermelon with maybe a tablespoon of feta and 2 small tomatoes on it. The prices were way too high ! Breakfast, however was good. The staff are friendly and helpful but it takes a long time to get a drink. They also don’t give you complimentary bottle water and the mini fridge is super expensive. Over all the resort is over priced in our opinion.

This is a beautiful property! Small yet has great amenities. The staff were wonderful! Friendly and helpful they made you feel right at home. Our room was right off the pool and just steps from the beach. Great place to kayak. Clean and comfortable! Located about 10-15 minutes from Placencia.

Liked convenience to restaurant and waterfront. Staff friendly and go out of their way to help you. Living units called tree houses because they are built high off the ground. Five stars from us.

Loved the treehouse experience, customer service and the beachfront bar. Such a neat place and would highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Mariposa. It was extremely comfortable--comfy beds and pillows! Everyone was very helpful and nice - great hospitality. The treehouses are beautiful and private. All of our drinks and food were good. There's a nice beach with loungers, chairs, umbrellas and food/beverage service.

The Mariposa was a simple lovely resort I was expecting something bigger and more crowded but this is small currently 11 rooms with an excellent and attentive staff. The pool area and beach in front were nothing fancy but nice. The location seemed perfect- removed enough from the town of placencia to feel quiet and private but close enough to ride the hotel loaner bikes into town and back several times. Food was ok - on par with other places we tried. We were here before the season got too busy so high staff to patron ratio and they were all great! Gladis, George, Oliver, Moises, Ricky, Donny all top notch. Highly recommend for a mid price "resort" Thank You!

The staff was exceptional, so sweet, attentive, professional, respectful and so funny. We loved the atmosphere. Please let all the bartenders and servers know how much we loved being there because of them. I can’t remember all there names, Donny was very welcoming, Carlos was always making sure we didn’t need anything. All the others were just as exceptional. Thank you.
