We were upgraded to a suite with full kitchen which was fully outfitted. The suite was very comfortable. Views over English Bay & Stanley Park were wonderful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy ($25/night). Only one nit: it’s a pet friendly hotel and the room next door had a yappy dog that wouldn’t shut up. (Fortunately it was quiet overnight or we would really have been pissed!)

Room was nice. Check-in didn’t go well. The check in nearly rejected us from staying there because my credit card chip was malfunctioning. Room was paid and offered any other method of deposit but he insisted and finally asked my partner for her credit card. Then asked to see her ID for the card usage. Felt very insulting. Why not have a manual method or tap at least. Sending people away who have paid for the room seems unfair.

I stayed at Sylvia for two nights when I had to attend a work function in the neighborhood and also work in downtown Vancouver. The area is beautiful and I have always loved the English Bay, so it was amazing to stay here. I also love that Sylvia is a historical hotel and the restaurant has old school craft cocktails!

The hotel is beautiful. It’s in a great location! Staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room with 3 beds. Perfect for our family of 5. We used the restroom for late night drinks(live music), amazing breakfast, then room service for dinner. Perfect!

I was not aware of a 'free breakfast' ? We did eat in the main restaurant and they very kindly sat us without a reservation on a Sunday so that was very nice. Everyone was very nice and friendly in a genuine way. This is a pet-friendly hotel so you should know you might hear the bark of a doggo or two while you in bed; it was not an issue. Comfy beds and pillows and the vintage architecture and wall decor was very much a part of my enjoyment. I look forward to returning again.

Our room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was clean, and the bed was impeccably made. The staff at the front desk and room service could not have been more friendly. The location was ideal, in front of the park, which was particularly appealing to us, since we were traveling with our two dogs. Their restaurant has excellent options in the menu, and the staff is friendly and courteous. We will definitely be going back to the Sylvia in our next trip to Vancouver. Excellent value overall.
