We’ve stayed at Dukes many times ✖️ over the past 12 years,always loving the service,ambience,location and fantastic menu. Our stay this year was so poor we won’t be returning.The room looked tired with chipped furniture in the bathroom,mouldy window frame and wonky toilet seat.The shower temp was sporadic.The main issue was the temperature of the room.The radiator was working on arrival but stopped sometime the first evening.We told staff the following afternoon,if it was looked at whilst we were out it certainly wasn’t fixed. We had a table booked for 745 but went down early as we were so cold in the room and again told staff.We were told we’d have to sit outside until our table was ready as you are unable to wait in the bar. I was ready to leave at this point.We were told we could sit in the bar at a spot between the back of the bar and the toilets.The bar area was also freezing as for some reason,the front door was propped open.Other people complained to staff about this and also the wait they had for food and drinks. When we said how cold it was in the bar, the staff member said ‘I don’t know what’s going on in this country, it’s so cold’. Close the front door then! We were then asked for our menu choices so clearly the wait at the table by the loos wasn’t a temporary measure until ours was available and someone else had our table.Poor choice of menu options compared to previous years.A heater was finally put in our room that evening.Not what we have come to expect.

Staff were very helpful, room spotless,everything was there including a coffee m/cn & umbrella, great breakfast choice,fruit, juice & the eggs benedict with salmon were delicious. Only drawback, parking is limited and a bit tight, but we managed, otherwise, brilliant

Clean room, great staff especially Isobel, lovely breakfast . If wanted a lovely menu for an evening meal. Our room had a brilliant sea view.

Only a one night stay but wish it had been longer. Lovely family room, wonderful position for the town and the beach.

Every member of staff was friendly and accommodating from management to the bar and waiting staff. Room was very clean and spacious with great sea views. Bed was very comfy with lovely linen sheets. Great buffet breakfasts with plenty options.

Had a very lovely stay just wished I could have stayed longer. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

Had a fun stay. Nice restaurant on the street

I liked the Duke in that I wasn't pestered and could do my own thing. Only issue was the room was quite small, but still very comfortable

We had a lovely stay. Room a bit small to fit a family of 4 in. Disappointed that housekeeping was not each day..only on 4th day. And we were there for 3 days. Treated with respect, lovely staff. Food excellent. We will return but try to book a larger room.

We loved the place, cozy, clean and pretty with a great location. Excelent breakfast and dinner. Very nice staff.

The staff were polite and friendly, and the hotel was clean.

While dukes is right in the center of all the action and the staff was lovely, the accommodations were lacking some creature comforts. My room was so incredibly hot and it was only 65 degrees when I was there and I could t get a breeze. There is no mini fridge if you want to keep any food and the shower only has soap. For the price I think it was a bit underwhelming. The breakfast was nice though. Sidmouth is beautiful, I would absolutely travel there again.

I enjoyed my one night stay at Dukes. Staff were very friendly. Evening meal was good and the breakfast was truly outstanding! I’d stay here again when next in Sidmouth.
