The hotel is on a busy street that is used by very loud cars and bikes through the night, if you don't sleep well this isn't the hotel for you. The room we stayed in had secondary glazing however this did nothing to help with the traffic noise in the night. The hotel do not offer a cooked breakfast in the morning, breakfast is from Clair's Café next door to the hotel and didn't offer anything to set you up for a day walking in London we booked in at a nearby restaurant for breakfast. Although the hotel says it has a bar there isn't one, there are lots of bars in the area and there is one next door just not one in the hotel.

The staff was fine, especially Vanya, doing everything possible to make my stay as pleasant as possible.

Whilst a central hotel being right near Chiba town, Soho and Leicester Square the only downside being on a main road it was very noisy all night and early morning so didn’t sleep very well. In our room we couldn’t switch the bathroom light off unless we took the door key out so made it difficult to see in the night when we got up to use the bathroom. Had an issue with the telephone going off at 3am so had to unplug it. That said the extra little touches like fresh fruit and wine and nuts was welcomed.

Centrally located and the staff was very friendly and attentive! Glass water bottles each day and a Nespresso machine in the room. Actual room to move around in the Jr Suite for myself and two daughters to stay all on one room.

The rooms were big and quiet.

My room hadn't been cleaned properly, the towels were ripped .. no information given about facilities / breakfast / check out times

It is hard to start a review of the Montcalm without highlighting the location in the West End. As someone with a mobility impairment, it was a delight to be steps away from so many theaters (including those hosting Hadestown, Oliver, Fawlty Towers, and Les Miserables). On top of that, there are numerous affordable and tasty restaurants close by, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Brazilian, Japanese, steakhouses, and other ethnic cuisines. For travelers on a budget who do not want to give up food quality and other values (cleanliness and ambience), this is an ideal place to stay. Then there is the physical environment of the hotel. There is a well-lit and inviting lobby. Guestrooms are not huge, but they are well-furnished and stocked with water and fresh fruit. Bathrooms are clean and well-designed. Linens are high quality and rooms are reached through a fast, convenient elevator. Just remember to bring multiple adapters if you are not native to the U.K electrical system. Staff was friendly and helpful and the room prices are reasonable. This is an outstanding choice for tourists, especially for those with theater plans in the West End.

Lovely hotel and perfect location. Breakfast is a voucher for the bakery next door. This is fine for a couple of days but could become monotonous if your staying for longer. Would recommend

The hotel is ideally located on Shaftesbury Avenue. The welcome at reception was excellent and checkin process good. The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you need. We had requested a Queen bed but ended up with twin beds. The only downside to the room was the large step into the bathroom, this would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues, I think this should have been mentioned at checkin. Otherwise would recommend hotel as it was good

Bon hotel, et très bon service client, mais ils prélèvent un dépôt de 30 £ pour le mini bar à l'arrivée, au check out ils disent qu'ils me le recréditent puisque je n'ai rien consommé, mais trois jours après il n'est toujours pas recrédité, et impossible de les joindre par email.

We geatly enjoyed the convenient location. It was walking distance to theaters, dining, night clubs, and even the British Museum.

I arrived fairly later on into the evening as a lone female business traveller. On arrivial the two gentlemen on reception were polite but fairly intense, I was requested to provide ID for them to scan, as a UK resident I do not have to do that and I was not confident for that information to be kept on file. One of the young men also follwed me upto my room, opened my room for me and walked inside to show me the mini-bar, which I hadnt asked for and as a solo female traveller I found quite offputting. Not what I needed at 11pm and I did have to ask him to leave. The room was tidy but overall run down and grubby, bathroom shower and sink needed a wipe doen before use and the hotel linen had marks I guess from long-term use.Hotel is on Shaftsbury avenue which is a fairly noisy road, luckily I had my own ear plugs which helped and is something I would highly recommend. Overall this is 3 star standard, its expensive for what it is and I know of other hotels in the area that are nicer standard, less intense reception staff and overall better value money for the price I paid. Probably wont be back.
