TLH Derwent Hotel - TLH Leisure, Entertainment and Spa Resort

Very noisy, and because my room was near the lift I could hear the lift talking all night! Its an old hotel and has alot of creaky floor boards too. I had to pay for parking which I was not made aware of until after booking, and the cost was £10 per night, which is expensive. Only plus was its near the beach, so easy to walk to.

Great hotel, idea location, good value - the pool and spa facilities are excellent. Will stay longer next time.

Staff are really lovely, just needs a good spruce up. I don’t mean not clean, it was really clean but dated

i liked the staff all very helpful and happy i booked this hotel mainly for entertainment for my children which in the daytime was late and also cancelled at short notice the pool was nice larger pool could be warmer gift shop needs longer opening hours as it closes mid day overall i would return

We attended with our family children, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The hotel was incredibly hot walking down the corridors. Walking into the room after a long journey with two children was a massive downer and if we weren't meeting other family members we would have likely left there and then. The room smelt musty, immediately noticed the room had not been cleaned properly in a while. The walls were covered in dust, crumbs and packets from the previous guests under the beds which just rolled around the room as the locks on the wheels appeared to not work, there looked like red blood on one of the bedside tables at the bottom and windows were not sealed that well at all. In the bathroom the shower curtain was mouldy, extractor fan was covered in so much old dust that when you turned it on the dust went everywhere! All over the bathroom sinks, bath, toilet it was grim! Immediately went to complain to the staff at the front desk who were really attentive, they came to view the room and told us they'd get someone to try to clean some of the dust whilst we all went to get some food for dinner. We didn't book the inclusive food package for the first night due to the cost, it would have been just shy of £100 for four people which given the quality of the food was steep so decided to go up to the Aztec Bistro bar/resteraunt. They had a sign saying no burgers, no steaks, no fish, etc so choices were very narrow and limited. Our children's dinner arrived, yet 20 minutes had passed t

The bedrooms are a bit dated.The waste bin in our room could do with a wash or maybe throw away ,it’s disgusting. Hotel clean and tidy .pools are fab along with the entertainment. Personally wouldn’t pay for the evening meal ,not worth the money.breakfast good . Aztec bistro is the best but they ran out of food on Saturday evening so we had to get a take away! Would definitely come back

The hotel has everything you would want for kids, the bed was terrible to sleep in as springs were poking out very cheap mattress, bathroom nice and clean,breakfast was ok plenty to choose from

Convenient position. Efficient people on reception. Nice cosy room. I didn't like some noisy guests with no consideration for others e.g. late at night loud talking of adults and children and banging doors. May be a notice in all rooms saying please be considerate to others and close doors quietly and not to speak too loudly. A hook needed on back of bathroom door to hang towel.

The hotel was clean but it is a bit dated and could do with an upgrade (but due to its size, that would be a major piece of work). The breakfast was great, the pools were great and there are plenty of different options for evening entertainment from the main hall to smaller pub areas. There is parking on site which can get busy but they have introduced a parking charge if you book through outside agencies such as Expedia of £10 per night. If you book with the hotel direct you don't pay this and that was a shock as the info wasn't on the Expedia site.

I’m sorry but there were stains on the sheets,pubic hair in the shower and a brown rim at the bottom of one of the cups

Excellent stay as always, staff are so friendly, helpful and professional, the food is amazing with plenty of it, lovely rooms although could do with decorating, wheelchair accessible room

We enjoyed our sray at this hotel, it was excellently licated close to the beach, seafront, harbor, cafes, stopping centte & railway station. Our twin room was modern (equipped with modern bathroom) & had a sea view & the facilities eg pools, hot tub, restaurants were really good. I'd highly recommended this place to friends & family

Me and my partner loved this hotel ! Sadly we was abit later to have dinner as it closes early however the hotel was massive we enjoyed the arcade! There is two huge pools which looks lush and a gym ! There is also night entertainment which was hilarious. Drinks wasn’t too pricey! Defo recommend we will be coming back next year !

All staff was really lovely and access to swimming pool was just a bonus. Also really happy with the breakfast and room service. Thank you so much 🙏

Stayed overnight in hotel as we had a theatre show booked in Torquay on Saturday. Arrived early and was able to check in and pay for parking in the car park. Reception looked good and they were very helpful. Used the lift as we had a small case and were on the 3rd floor. It took forever to arrive and then when it did it was Definitely an experience- wasn’t sure if it was going to break down with the noises it was making and although it said for 6 people I think four would have been a struggle, it was so small, old and dirty. Eventually got to room, whole hotel upstairs in need of a paint and spruce up, looks very tired and the some of our furniture looked old. The chair needed to go to the tip and was quite embarrassing. The room slopped down as I quess this is an old building but it did make me feel uneasy. No pressure in the shower so having a shower was a struggle and the towels were so small they did not cover all body. We did use the bar next door for drink and dinner which was good. There is a lot on offer to do and is obviously a very popular destination for tourists but I did feel lucky that we were only booked in for one night as we would not be wasting any more money. Such as shame as they have a good business there just need to spend some of the takings making it better for the people who keep the business running. On a positive note breakfast was very good, however there is an additional charge as breakfast is not included in the price of the room.

Very dated and certain areas are not very clean esp games room.. Lack of respect from guests coming to breakfast in pyjamas.
