THE Lotus Palace Chettinad

A small boutique heritage hotel. Very clean and quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. Spa and the pool are fantastic! Food menu was limited but was well cooked and delicious! Overall fantastic hotel, staff and service!

Beautifully remodeled traditional Chettinad home . Unfortunately although we were at the lotus room , one whole ring of the hotel , we could not shower at night due to hot water issues as well as in the morning still working in hot and cold water !! Doors were not shutting properly in the bathroom , could not get back in from the tub area in to the room as staff weee fixing continuously no privacy to relax !! Cost of this stay per night was $450!! I expect luxury at this rate . Manager disappeared and didn’t come though we waited to discuss our concerns . We did call Expedia and complain as well immediately . Will not be staying here ever

This property is an old style chettinad mansion which has been modernised but retaining most of its original features. It's beautiful to look at but does not live up to its 5 star rating and definitely does not justify its sky high room rates. The staff appear untrained and look baffled at simple requests. Our triple room had a toilet and bathroom within the main bedroom area with just a simple wooden louvre separating door. This clearly offers no privacy whatsoever and is unacceptable for a hotel rating itself 5 star. If you are in the area, this hotel is worth looking at for its decor but there are far better value hotels in the same town.
