Frenchman's Cove Resort

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn other travelers especially families with young children. The cleanliness of the villa was unacceptable. There was heavy dust buildup behind curtains and throughout the rooms, the bathrooms were in very poor condition, and there appeared to be bug or rodent droppings in multiple areas. The property is clearly aging, which I could have overlooked if it had at least been properly maintained and cleaned. What was most disappointing was the misleading setup of the “3-bedroom sea view villa.” The rooms are actually separated and not fully connected, which was never clearly disclosed in the listing. Traveling with my four-year-old, two-year-old, and 12-year-old, this setup was completely inappropriate and created unnecessary stress and safety concerns for my family. To make matters worse, we specifically booked this property for beach access, only to be informed after our arrival that the beach would be closed on Saturday for a private event. The scenery itself is beautiful, but overall the stay was absolutely not worth the money paid. Between the poor cleanliness, misleading accommodation layout, and lack of transparency regarding amenities, I would not recommend staying here in its current condition.

The beach at French Man Cove us beautiful, and can visited by purchasing a pass for the day. I'd highly recommend this rather than staying at the hotel. The hotel is old, dilapidated in places and very dark at night. The kettle in the room produced very dirty water on first use, so was not used again. The AC unit outside is noisy, and leaks water onto the balcony. There is wooden block stick provided to secure the balcony door, as I assume locks don't work. The beds within the rooms are very small, particularly length wise. Returning from the beach after sunset is a very dark walk, with very few lights leading to the rooms. Security staff and the lifeguards were helpful, however beach bar staff (which is the only place to access food on site as the kitchen is unavailable due to renovations) were slow to assist and rarely ventured onto the beach to take orders/assist. Guests of the hotel are required to pay for beach chairs, the same as visitors to the beach.

I had such a great trip! Would like to stay at one of the renovated rooms next time though. But the beach is like no other and the staff are amazing!

Durante a estadia foi possível observar infiltrações, áreas deterioradas e até mesmo partes da estrutura aparentemente se desprendendo, o que transmite uma sensação constante de abandono. Esse cenário acabou gerando um forte sentimento de insegurança. Em uma das noites da minha hospedagem, eu estava completamente sozinho em todo o hotel, sem qualquer outro hóspede presente. Além disso, não há funcionários no período noturno e, aos domingos, os funcionários diurnos também não permanecem no local, o que aumenta ainda mais a sensação de desamparo caso ocorra qualquer necessidade ou emergência. Outro ponto que merece destaque é a grande discrepância entre o que é apresentado nas fotos e a realidade encontrada. As imagens divulgadas criam uma expectativa que, infelizmente, não corresponde à situação atual do hotel. Considerando o estado da estrutura, o nível de serviço praticamente inexistente e a experiência geral da hospedagem, o valor cobrado pelas diárias é excessivamente alto. The villa was spacious, cozy, and clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Frenchman beach was awesome!

The ocean was very clean and staff was friendly, but the cottages are a bit on the rustic, older side, and need maintenance

The gardens and beach access are 10/10. The contract that you sign on entering states that the grill where you can buy food is open until 7:00 pm at 5:00 pm when we tried to order food, they told us they were closed. The literature states that they open quite early in the morning. When we went down at 10:00 am, they told us they would not be open before 12. At 10:00 am there were staff cleaning up plates, cutlery, and plastic bottles from the day before. The food/grill operation has no pride and lacks customer service. We had an issue with the key and the door to our apartment. Thankfully, there was someone on duty who helped us move rooms, and was helpful as was the security on the gate, both did a great job. Frenchman's cove is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, the rooms and the building are a little tired, with a number of small issues with taps, door handles, railings that got stuck. The operational staff were all helpful and friendly. The grill operation on the beach was not so much unfriendly, non-cooperative, and really not that caring about their environment, other than to make a few cosmetic fixes after guests had already arrived on the beach from the day before' s litter.

The dated decor which are in shambles made our trip precarious for good reason. The sliding doors which lead outdoors cannot be closed properly posing a security risk.

Eco friendly

It was a good experience. This property had lots of potential and we are glad we went. However, we knew to expect a less updated version of what it used to be . The villa definitely needs some upgrading. The faucet in the kitchen barely had any water and the whole property needed a good power wash on the outside. The views were amazing but there was lots of overgrown greenery. The privacy was priceless and it was wonderful to have the beach to ourselves in the morning. I was on the understanding that they have been renovatong for a while, but the property doesnot reflect it. Once renovations are actually done we would gladly return. The place has a special magic that we truly appreciated.

Please read this review before booking. The grounds & beach are AMAZING! 10/10 absolutely recommend! The accommodations on the other hand are TERRIBLE! 0/10 do not recommend. I booked the property for the grounds and proximity to the beach. I understand that the villas are rustic but they did NOT provide a basic standard of clean for my stay. If you have respiratory conditions, do NOT book here. They villas are not deep cleaned nor aired out. Customer service is also nonexistent. I expressed my concerns about the cleanliness and they didn’t even attempt to have someone come to clean it. Book another property and pay the entrance fee to access the beach.

Great location and beautiful beach, but rustic and not updated. If you go not expecting luxury, you will like it very much.

We love the area! It is quiet and very peaceful. The beach and river are amazing! They do need to put some work into the villas as they are very out dated, the patio doors don’t lock properly and the louvered windows are missing glass in some areas. Overall, we had a lovely time!
