A little far from all the shops but if you’re looking for a quiet environment with great amenities and staff that is eager and willing to help please check Kyotology out. Definitely choosing this hotel when I come back.

Even though the location was not as centrally located as we thought, it was still convenient enough to get to many attractions. This was a beautiful property and staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

This was a gem of a find! For a minute there I had some regrets staying further out from Kyoto Tower area, but the commute was easy. It's next to a few metro and bus station stops, and there's plenty of Luup e-bikes and scooters to rent. I highly recommend this as biking around Kyoto was one of the highlights of my trip. Just be sure to set up your account before you go e-sim only. Anyways, back to the hotel. It was super spacious (i did w/bathtub), not only for Japan, but in general, and clean. Perfect for my 6 day stay. I've had problems with noisy hotels lately, not here. Very peaceful. Free quality coffee, tea, use of umbrellas, microwave, toaster oven. Sometimes there will be an attendant at the desk. All in all I would 100000% book here again.

Just remember to read the description of the Hotel it is not staffed 24/7. You can call someone in case of a problem. Just don’t take it out on the cleaning crew.

Hotel focused to much on aesthetics and edginess with an architectural vibe but missed out on functionality. Very humid in the room when coming back from exploring Kyoto. Weird smell from the poor ventilation. No reception which made it weird since it’s a hotel and not an AirBnB and complicated to get help.
The room was not clean, very dusty in some common places. We put ”please clean the room” sign on our door and they barely cleaned it, floor was not vacuumed, bathroom was hardly wiped. We cleaned it more ourselves even though we asked it to be cleaned. Not a lot of space to put your things for a longer stay, even though the room was spacious.
Sad since the hotel looked promising.

I got an email asking me to pre check in and go to another web site to pay city tax. I chose to pay city tax on arrival. Then I got 20 more email that said I must pay or risk losing our paid reservation. It sure seemed suspicious so I just showed up and paid the 800 yes at the front desk. Yes, there was a tablet and also two live humans to assist. We walked to the train station—takes about 18-20 minutes, downhill. We took a taxi to get to the hotel initially, and had to use my phone GPS to direct the driver.

Compared to other hotels we stayed the room had more space and garden was pretty cool. wish we could get out to the garden. I made mistake on dates so i had 2 reservations but the hotel emailed me informing me that I didnt have to check out and check in again without me asking them. Highly recommend
