While some parts may be old and in need of a spruce up (or new carpet), the overall cleanliness of both the room, and all of the facilities, was absolutely fantastic. You can tell the owners really care about great, friendly service.

It’s an old building but the facilities are excellent, bed was great, staff great it’s warm and clean.

A great stay at a location that is easily walkable around the downtown area, although the hostel itself is a bit outside of the downtown area and is a bit of an industrial area. Really not a problem... just for knowledge. Everything was there that a hostel should offer and easily accessible. Perfect for my stay in Greymouth as I was passing through and just needed a shower and a bed.

Very nice staff, always eager to help. The rooms were freshly painted and clutter free with a sink in each room. There is no closet nor shelving for storing the luggage or hang clothing for longer stays however they might have larger room with storage capacity for extended stays.
The laundry facility is superb. The kitchen is large and clean.
Highly recommended as it is the only affordable place in Greymouth and it is my j better than other hostels or even hotels in the southern part.

Nice old building. Clean and nice service. There have been some renovation to the building but there are still areas that could need an update. I have a room that has been updated an it is lovely. Nice bed and clean sheets.

I WOULD SUGGEST TO THE MANAGEMENT NOT TO NAME THE FAMILY ROOM AGAIN BECAUSE ITS ACTUALLY A DIRTY SMELLY DOMITORY. NO SOAP OR HAND WASH EVEN AT TOILETS, DUKE HOSTEL IS JUST DISGUSTING,

My family had a great stay at the Duke Hostel. The location is convenient, and the common area is spacious with good Wi-Fi. They have a ping-pong table and pool for entertainment. The friendly staff made our Christmas special with a surprise cake. The hostel is clean.

Lovely old time hostel form a converted hotel. Bed was comfortable, room was clean and tidy. Only issue was heater being wall mounted with a timer which would click off every 30 minutes. Not ideal on a very cold night.

Sehr freundlich empfangen, kurze und präzise Einweisung. Für die Durchreise sehr gut geeignet, auch wenn das Objekt an sich im Hinterbereich etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist (z.B. gegenüberliegende Zimmer in einem seitlichen Lichthof).
