Crowne Plaza EDINBURGH - ROYAL TERRACE, an IHG Hotel

All of the staff we interacted with could not have been more helpful, especially the receptionists. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed breakfast in the terrace in the morning and the bar in the evening! It’s perfectly located to explore Edinburgh and has loads of easy transport links nearby. Would definitely recommend.

Decent location, about a 15-20 min walk from the hot spots. Quiet but very small room for two people. Suitable for one person. Rooms are pretty old and outdated and look like it - specifically the bathroom which shows quite a bit of wear which makes it look dirty. We did not sleep well here due to the small size of the bed and fact that the bathroom light switch is on the outside so if someone gets up in the middle of the night the bathroom light is quite bright.

It was a good walk into Edinburgh's centre, so be mindful if you are not able bodied.

The location of the hotel was convenient for travelling around the city on foot. Walking distance to the railway station and Royal Mile. The hotel room is spacious with high ceilings. The garden looked beautiful from the large windows. We liked that it was clean, tidy and quiet.

Thankfully we were only here overnight as I would have asked to move rooms. We had a dark damp basement room and a small double bed. Would not recommend this hotel.

Beautiful setting

We were traveling for our anniversary and a bucket of sodas on ice was sent to our room! It was a nice touch, and the front desk staff had so many helpful suggestions for activities and meals. The property was just slightly out of the way of how busy the city is, which was also nice.

There were bugs in our room. And mold and as some who is allergic it was quite disappointing

firstly very good hotel in edinburgh very good conditions and very good just problem There was a lot of noise coming from the bed, I woke up to the sound all night long.

A completely unacceptable experience for such a high price. I was placed in a basement room where heavy rain poured down the window well all night, creating a deafening noise—it felt like trying to sleep under a drum. To make matters worse, the room had a strong moldy smell, making it both uncomfortable and unhealthy.

Great location in the centre of Edinburgh — and charming neighbourhood (buildings of the Royal Terrace and garden of London road). The lobby, bar and terrace are very nice. Room could need a refreshing but comfort is OK. Both views on the terrace and the sea are nice. Staff is helpful. Would stay again :)

The property it self is lovely feels really posh ,location is great and were had a free up grade too which was a bonus ,the only thing i was a bit confused about was the cleaners came in your room everyday with fresh towels ect but never made the bed,other than that it was perfect

I regret to share that my recent stay at Voco Royal Terrace (late May to early June) was far below expectations, especially for an IHG Group property. Hotel Management and Housekeeping: The hotel appeared to be poorly managed during our visit. Housekeeping standards were unsatisfactory—the rooms were dated and noticeably dusty, which triggered allergies for some members of our party. The bathroom had a persistent, unpleasant odour that made it difficult to relax or sleep comfortably. Room Facilities: The shower facilities were disappointing. While the shower head was branded Hans Grohe, the rest of the mixer set was not, which gave a misleading impression of the overall quality. Additionally, the water pressure was weak, making showering inconvenient. Breakfast Quality: Breakfast at the hotel was a letdown. Each component of the meal—fried eggs, grilled tomatoes, sausages, and mushrooms—was served cold and lacked freshness or flavour. Guest Experience and Staff Welfare: We frequently observed other guests voicing their complaints at reception throughout our stay, indicating that our experience was not unique. I am concerned about the well-being of the reception staff, who seemed to be under considerable stress due to the volume of guest dissatisfaction. This appears to be a result of broader issues with the hotel’s management.
