Baymont by Wyndham – Manistee, Michigan Where Hope Goes to Die in Chlorinated Air You roll into Manistee expecting small-town charm, maybe a fresh breeze off the lake, maybe even a little comfort after a long drive through the spine of Michigan. What you don’t expect is the smell of piss rising from your mattress like it’s trying to introduce itself. First room—dead on arrival. One of the beds reeked like someone had lost a bet with a bladder. The kind of stench you don't forget. Front desk shrugs, hands over a new room key like this is just part of the game. No apology, no concern—just another day at the Baymont Casino of Bodily Fluids. Second room? Bigger. That’s the good news. The bad news? It came with a broken toilet seat, a toilet that wouldn’t flush, and one that wouldn’t stop running. A full circus of plumbing problems. Call the front desk, and you're met with the kind of Midwest customer service that’s a mix of polite detachment and mild disbelief. "Maintenance won’t be in until Wednesday,” they say, casually offering up a plunger like you're a contestant in a particularly sad game show. And while you're elbow-deep in DIY hotel plumbing, go ahead and take a peek at the AC filters. You know, if you’re into biohazards. Dust caked on like ancient scrolls. The kind of stuff that

Exterior of building in desperate need of an update. Damaged trim, broken bricks at entrance. Also, need to remove plexiglass at front desk to make it more inviting.

When we checked in we were given a room that wasn’t ready yet, and we weren’t told about it. We stood out in the hall for 20 minutes and the maids didn’t seem to care. Everything is super average here and the bare minimum. I would think twice about staying here again.

Property is old. But nice stay.

It was a very clean room with friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Enjoyed the hot tub & pool. Nice breakfast, several items offered, though I personally don't eat many of the items. There was a power outage while there. Rooms were secure. Need some light for the stairway & laundry room. I would stay here again.

This is not up to the expectations I have of a Wyndham Baymont. It is run down on the outside with weeds everywhere and the building in disrepair. The inside is old but seems clean. Very noisy. Will never stay in another Baymont.

Easy check-in. Sheets were stained which threw me off. I'd like to think they were clean. There was a lot of debris in the pool. Did not check out the morning breakfast.

Customer Service was great. Rooms are in need of an update.

Staff was amazing and friendly! We got checked in right away and room was already cooled down from heat outside! Beds were comfortable and room was nice and clean!

Place was a nice stay over all, we liked the pool and the breakfast.

It was a good value for the stay. Breakfast was included but not the best.

Easy check-in. Clean room

The air/ fan sounded like a garbage disposal running. Could not get air circulation in the room. Thank G that the window opened.

What I didn't like is no chair for visitor's to sit only the bed. No desk to sit at to eat food only on the bed. No place to hang up clothes or no drawers to put them in. No hand soap to wash your hands. Some good things are location, easy to get to highways, lots of stores and restaurants near by. Good price and daily breakfast.

Bathroom door didn’t shut without slamming it. Shower faucet leaked

Shower mat was secured with latex calk, which would float to the top of the water and cog drain.
