Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

Interior amenity is a little old, but provided great view and access to the bay. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a good place to stay.

I liked that it was on the water. The patio did not have screen door so birds could come inside the hotel room

The views were amazing but the immediate concrete area by the window is an eyesore. The pool was a bit dirty and opens at 9am even if it says 7am on the website. The fridge wasn't cold. However, we loved how close it was to everything. Front desk says they couldn't send my receipt because I put the room under another person's name (I paid for the hotel). It was weird.

Very good stop to see the Hawaii volcanoes NP. The staff were so nice to give us direction to get to the eruption site, even bottles to carry fresh water and flash lights to use at night. The surrounding environment of the hotel is so pretty, our room had very nice view. We enjoyed the stay very much!

Hilo is very sketchy, the hotel allowed unregistered locals to use the pool, plus they had unleashed dogs. When we complained, they kicked the people out but they were very vulgar to us, using profanity regularly, and confronting us in a threatening manner. We checked out immediately and have asked for a full refund.

I’ve stayed at 3 hotels in Hilo, this is my least favorite.

I would not stay here again, despite the beautiful views, convenient location and free parking. The hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. No safes in the room. No bedside lamps.

The property was well kept and beautiful outside. The lobby and our room were very spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable. Staff was welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed the live music at bar/cafe, as well as the yummy food.

Stayed here as less than 1 hour from seeing Kilauea vocano (amazing). Property needs updating but my room clean. Buffet was good. Stayed on 2nd floor so no elevator and had to walk short stairs but ocean view great. Mini fridge helps. Saw alot of reviews both good and bad and say I had a good experience. Lots of parking on property and staff very freindly. Nearby park where you can jump into ocean from a structure as lots do this. Also near a Japanese garden you can stroll. To management PLEASE clean the Koi pond as green algae/moss must be bad for Koi.

Wonderful views of Maunakea and bay. Opt for a room with a balcony for best experience.

If you like camping you might like this hotel. Although I’d say it was more like a motel. Gross. Roaches. Only stayed one night. Front desk guy was not friendly and acted like I was an idiot for asking questions about the room.. The only thing good about the entire stay was a housekeeping guy who brought us extra bedding for the couch when the front desk man said everything was in the room for the couch. No bedding was in the room. The house keeping guy I think his name started with a G was a delight. The parking garage also looks like it’s going to cave in. The pool looked dirty and not clear. Would never stay here again or recommend it. We kept our luggage zipped up tight because we were terrified of a bug climbing in. Thank goodness we only had to endure this one night.

Awesome location, right on the water with a great view of the bay. Walkable to water and some restaurants. Condition generally good, though starting to show its age a bit. We only got one chair on our balcony and didn't get a second even when we requested it our first day. Only got two towels as well, but desk have more when requested.

This was our first visit to the Big Island, and although we typically stay at Marriott properties, we had no choice but to stay at the Hilo Hawaiian, a Wyndham property. Overall, it was a decent experience, though not quite on par with other hotels I’ve stayed at on other islands. Check-in was smooth, and I appreciated the free upgrade upon request. If you stay here, I highly recommend booking an ocean-view room, it's worth it. The other side of the hotel only offers a view of banyan trees. The hotel itself is dated but still clean and functional. We received two complimentary drink vouchers, which the bartender kindly honored the next day after we forgot to use them on our first night. There’s also a $10 daily breakfast credit at the on-site restaurant. While the food was good, it’s on the pricier side, as expected in Hawaii. One highlight was walking along Banyan Drive at night, hearing the chorus of frogs, very peaceful. However, we did run into a nightly issue: loud music and laughter coming from local kids partying at the Coconut Island parking area below. It took away from the relaxing sound of the waves, so we ended up sleeping with the A/C on for white noise. Hilo itself is calm and low-key, so if you're looking for nightlife, this isn’t the place. I'd also suggest asking the front desk for a microwave, there aren’t many dining options nearby, and the hotel food, while decent, isn’t cheap. So we used Walmart delivery. Overall, I’d give this hotel 4 stars.
