Holiday Inn Express & Suites CARTHAGE by IHG, an IHG Hotel

Check in was for 3 pm we arrived at 430 our room was dirty. We had to wait for it to be cleaned. The ac was broke on the 3rd floor hallway where our room was. The toilet had issues the tv service was in and out the next day our room did not get cleaned until 6 pm and all i was tild was the manager would be in on monday after 11 and of course check out was 11

The facility is well maintained and clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. The tub fixtures in our room was showing wear and the shower flow, as in most hotels, is not much more than a mist. I was a little disappointed that the A/C had no was to force the fan to be in "continuous" mode, to help mask outside noise. Also, it seemed the the thermostat monitored movement and shut the A/C off when there was no movement in the room. I woke up hot a couple of times and move around and place my hand on the thermostat to cause the A/C to cycle back on. This is common at most newer hotels, so I did not rate this hotel significantly lower because of this.

Room was about to renovated and we were there for 4 days. When asked simply said we were full. Room had bugs and bathroom was dirty upon check in

If this is what Holiday Inn is, we won’t stay at another one

There were bugs in our room. Front desk got us moved. 2nd room had bugs as well. The 3rd room Was finally okay. But with bugs in 2 previous rooms it made it feel dirty.

I didn't check in because the area is expecting torrential rains and hurricanes.

When we first arrive the bathroom had hair on the floor. The second after the room was cleaned there was still hair in the bathroom that did not belong to us.

The only issue we had was kids jumping up and down or walking hard in room above us.

This was a bait and switch.Outside looked new and well kept. I needed a place for my parent to rest and shower for few hours which allowed us to be near the hospital. We checked in late. The hot water for showers I guess was turned off because there was none. If you went into the bathroom and shut the door it locked and light would go out. Security was iffy because there was at least a one inch gap under the room door! I could see out into the hallway, had to stuff a towel under the door. Lastly, the huge Cockroach that I allowed to have the bathroom. I was not going back in there and get locked in and lights go out. So will not stay again.

Great hotel, nice people

Paid for 3 reservations on Expedia, checked in to property and was asked for a credit card. They charged my card for all 3 rooms again plus incidentals. 3 days later still no refund from them.

Our shower had zip ties to hold the shower head. Still could not shower appropriate was flooding the bathroom with water. Toilet did not work: had to use hotel lobby bathroom and even the girls handle in that was broke and did not worked. Reported all to staff they said no aware. Tiles in our room was lifting up. Worst holiday inn and even hotel I have stayed in years. I have pictures. Would not recommend. Our whole baseball team stayed there and multiple had problems with their rooms and reported. This hotel should be shut down worked on and reopened. Giving holiday inn a bad name. Not even to mention when we checked in and they gave us keys we went up to a room that had not been cleaned. Still trash, towels and dirty linens from night before. Had to wait on them to clean it before we could go up again.

First, the positive: the staff were all super friendly and kind. However, there were big negatives. My first room reeked of mildew, and I noticed there was a slippery, discolored patch about 2 feet long by one foot wide in the middle of the bathtub/shower floor. I asked if it could be cleaned because I smelled mildew. They came and scrubbed the floor right away, and laid down some kind of precut vinyl patch over the whole area. They said, "Don't worry, that isn't mildew, it's just rust." The next day, I was working offsite. When I got back to the hotel, the mildew smell in the room was so bad, I gagged. I asked for a room switch. The front desk woman kindly got me a room on another floor, which didn't smell like mildew. However, the next morning, I noticed a bunch of little amber-colored ants all over the bathroom counter. I didn't even bother complaining that time, because I have asthma and I wheeze if I am exposed to pesticide sprays. I just took all my stuff out of the bathroom and minimized my use of that space for the last day and a half of my stay. There were still ants on the counter intermittently the whole time.

Easy check in. Comfy bed. Quiet. Healthy breakfast options.
