Loved seeing old Hollywood movie era

I stayed at this hotel twice (Apr 4 and Apr 21). Upon arrival Apr 4, the clerk tried to give me an upstairs room in the annex, I refused it because of no elevator. I had reserved a king bed on the first floor. I finally settled on a king bed on the first floor of the main hotel. The room was very small, wall to wall bed. Before checking out I advised the clerk I was returning on the 21st and she assured me I would have a king bed on the floor of the annex. Upon arrival, I was told all we have left is two queen beds (not what I reserved). When I awoke the next morning there was no water in the shower, front desk clerk commented "Oh well, I'll notify maintenance" I will never stay at this hotel again and definitely never recommend it to others.

Loved the history surrounding this hotel. The atmosphere and decor is wonderful. We ate in the restaurant twice and the food and service were great. We would definitely stay there again.

We reserved a Deluxe King room listed as having a king size bed and a sofa bed. We didn't need the sofa bed, but I liked the listed larger square footage to accommodate the sofa bed versus the standard King room. Unfortunately, we checked in about an hour or so before the restaurant was to close, so we decided to eat first before we went to our room. After dinner we brought our luggage to our room and when we went in, we realized that we did not have the deluxe king, we had the standard. I went back to the front desk, but no one was there, so I just went back to the room and made due. To be fair the room was very nice, and the bed was great, but there was no room to maneuver. The room was just too small. Other than that this hotel rocks. The place is just cool, and the gift shop and restaurant, were top notch. Also, I left my personal pillow in the room after checking out, and later that day I received a call telling me that it was at the hotel. I was too far away to go back, but that was very nice of them to call me.

Loved our 1 night stay at this historical hotel. We had dinner abd breakfast at the restaurant. The only critical was we had no where to take our dogs for potty and was a little caught off guard by the homeless hanging out at the gas station next door.

The ambience of the property was incredibly well curated. It would be a great benefit to customers to have security in the parking lot though.

Beautiful craftsmanship and excellent food. The history combined with the building and the service was a pleasure. Delightful experience.

Perfect place to stay. give it a try

My father was the electrician for a remodel in 1963. He spoke a lot about the location and the different western stars he met over the years in the area. Doing work at ranches for actors. We brought a small resin statue made of my father and took him to all the places in NM,UT and Az that he was so found of. Thank you for our continued family memories

The hotel has a nice western's atmosphere, its decorations, room names, etc. all related to westerns. That is the only positive thing I can say. We stayed in the main building, which is old. Our room (Delux 2 queen beds) was very small, with no refrigitator, microwave or AC. Bathroom was extremely small, no countertop, just a sink. The sound insulation from inside and outside noise was quite poor. The room was clean. I am glad we only stayed there one night. It was interesting to visit, but we will not stay here again. It is lacking basic amenities and wasn't comfortable overall. Parking is an issue as well, there is not enough spaces to accomodate hotel's guests and and busy restaurant's diners.

Cute charming and quaint. When booking this hotel, please keep in mind that this is an original, older building. It is three stories and the elevator his old school, which was kind of fun. The doors are not automatic.You do have to open and shut them yourself. My room had a single queen.It was small, but it was just me.So I had no problem with that. The bed was comfy, and I had a cute little balcony where I was able to open the door and have a nice cool breeze throughout the night. They do have a restaurant, but breakfast is not included in the price. I would definitely stay here again

Overall a Nice hotel: our room with two queen sized beds was big. The shower facility was small and water stream from the shower head was lousy. Nice photo gallery (2nd floor) and fireplace in lobby. Gift shop well equipped but pricy.

Everything was wonderful except the bathroom. No room between toilet, sink and shower. It was terrible trying to use it.

The hotel is nice but it’s starting to really show its age. They remodeled portions but they were not done with true craftsmanship

Great little hotel with a history and good food.

If you seek historic, local and funky surroundings this is it! Deep and interesting connections to Hollywood, actors and the surrounding areas.

The hotel is amazing as is the staff and the restaurant!

Reserved 2 Deluxe King suites and only got one. The other room had a queen size bed. The front desk person tried (really hard) to convince me it was a King size bed. It was a little insulting, to be honest. The lobby was under construction which killed the vibe of the Route 66 landmark. No A/C was available to ANYONE. Apparently there is a “season” for A/C… who knew?!? The East wing of the hotel has stairs so we were unable to bring the luggage cart to our doors, which was VERY inconvenient, and a little dangerous for handicapped people to navigate. The redeeming gesture came from the front desk the next morning as the morning girl was very empathetic and did all she could to make thing’s “right”, which she did. Thank you. If you want to see a (former) “sister property”, check out The El Capitan in Van Horn, Texas. It holds all the charm, and excellence, a beautiful step back in time should hold. I strongly recommend the owner and management of The El Rancho go there and take a lesson on how to care go and run a beautiful landmark hotel. There is no need to rob your patrons of this experience. It’s just laziness on your part, and it is a real disappointment, to say the least.
