Wingate by Wyndham Long Island City

The hotel itself was nice, but check-in was a major issue. I arrived at 3pm, the listed check-in time, but the system was down and I was unable to check in. After waiting over an hour, the system was still not working. I had booked this hotel specifically to have a room to get ready for a 5pm event, but since I couldn’t check in, I ended up having to get ready in the bathroom. This was exactly the situation I was trying to avoid by booking a room. It was extremely inconvenient and frustrating, especially since there didn’t seem to be a backup plan for guests checking in during the outage, leaving us waiting around in the rain. I would have appreciated some sort of credit or accommodation for the inconvenience.

Amazing staff, very pleasant and great customer service! Loved my view of Manhattan from my room. Complimentary breakfast was good. Great access to subway!

Good: Front desk staff was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful and let us check in a couple hours early which was great! The rooms were clean and a decent size. The light breakfast fare was nice. Bad: The little reading lights next to our beds were wobbly and loose, and the lightbulb and housing of one of them actually detached from the stem while I was adjusting the light for reading. There are only 7 or 8 parking spaces in front of the hotel for 144 rooms. Ugly: Having to find street parking was made worse by the tremendously sketchy area surrounding the hotel. It took over half an hour to find a parking spot when we returned at 9:30pm. There are MANY homeless and clearly drunk or stoned people hanging out on the sidewalks at 10pm. I suppose the 20 or so police officers we saw constantly patrolling the 2- or 3-square block area around the hotel should have made us feel safer, but it didn’t. An hour after we returned from parking that first night, we heard (from our 5th-floor rooms) two cops trying to calm down a very loud man shouting and making aggressive gestures towards them. One of the cops had their hand on a taser or gun as the other cop kept trying to de-escalate the situation. This was literally outside the front entrance of the hotel and lasted more than 30 minutes. Thankfully no one was hurt, but what if we had returned an hour later that night? That would’ve been happening just as we got back.

Honestly love my stay. I love that we had housekeeping everyday and the staff was really nice. The only problem I had was that my keypad took time to work other than that, I had no issues at all

Closer to subway station and laundromat, good staff and good lobby. But the deal breaker for me is how the room’s A/C operates. This hotel is better than all those on 11th street, but still falls behind the ones on 9th.

Breakfast included, could walk anywhere and catch the subway etc. a lot of little markets. Food near by convenient.

Really clean and nice staff

Economical, though substantially more expensive than last year. Reasonable walk from underground, though the escalator there wasn't working (hardly the hotel's fault!). surrounding area a bit scary, with strong police presence.

Hôtel bien situé pour aller quotidiennement sur Manhattan car métro facilement accessible ; quartier bof mais pas de souci de sécurité. Réceptionnistes super sympas!!! Petit déjeuner ok mais pas assez de place .

Beautifully decorated, clean, spacious room, friendly staff!

The stay was clean and pleasant, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's conveniently located near the subway and bus stops, and it's also close to LaGuardia Airport. However, one thing that bothered me was that someone took our leftover pizza from the room. When I called the front desk to inquire, they didn’t know anything about it and didn’t take any action.
