Great spot, but staying at a hotel that is a tourist attraction itself means you’re sometimes competing with non-guests for service or seating in the restaurant.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown

The property was nice, safe, and beautiful but our room’s heating/cooling system made a loud noise each time it turned off. It was loud enough to wake me up throughout the night. There was also paint bubbles around the system’s wood case which might be either a bad paint job or possibly the beginnings of mold??

Fantastic location, and excellent service. Like all Fairmont's, the Empress has the same service we’ve come to expect, but the added location makes it even better. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Victoria to stay here. I think it’s one of the most famous hotels in Victoria.

The Empress is just what one would expect from this very special chain of hotels - elegant, historic, classy, with excellent staff (particularly in the Gold level). Sometimes, hotels are simply locations which one uses as a base for activities; although the Empress was at the centre of activities, the lounges were so inviting and relaxing that we had to question whether we just wanted to sit and relax or go sightseeing; we ended up going out a little less and sitting back and doing nothing just a little more.

I liked everything.

This was a great place to stay. Friendly, efficient and helpful front desk staff. Room was immaculately clean with comfortable bed and nice linens.

The Fairmont provided a perfect ending to our 2 week vacation through the Canadian Rockies. Food, accommodations, treatment…top notch. Thank you.

Great place juat has very very small bathroom and shower.

Decided to do up a birthday in style at The Empress, so chose the Fairmont Gold Level which gave us access to special food offerings, entertainment, and services. We felt like royalty in this beautiful location.

My wife and I were treated like royalty from the Hotel Receptionist, to the incredible spa and restaurant staff.

Room was amazing with all the amenities. Staff went above and beyond - especially Peter and his coworker. Peter took excellent care of our luggage, went out of his way to be helpful and made our experience as enjoyable and seamless as possible. Even took my picture in front of the facade to remember to return! Mike was also awesome and went out of his way to help us with coffee and was so helpful and friendly. These guys truly made our trip to Victoria special!

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful location. Bar ambiance and service was our favorite. Call your car to be picked up at valet at least 30 mins ahead. Almost missed our ferry waiting for ours.
