Rating & Review Keseluruhan Comfort Suites University Area Notre Dame - South Bend

I booked 2 nights to attend my grandaughters graduation from notre dame. My grandson who was coming from connecticut to chicago was meeting me to drive me from chicago to south bend as i was coming from buffalo. His flight was cancelled due to the tornados last minute and as a result i had to cancel mine. I immediately reported it to hotel but they already charged me for both nights even though the policy said if you dont show up you forfeit one night. Ive called twice but they tell me its up to management but they never get back to me. Im out 572 dollars.

The employees were very helpful and friendly. My understanding is the hotel has been sold- I hope that is true because currently this place is a dump. Rooms needed cleaned, the mattresses were stained, the furniture in our room was terribly stained and worn. I understand that South Bend is a college town where very popular football games are held. I imagine the guests can be quite rowdy. The owners would not want to fill the rooms with priceless antiques and valuable furnishings, however there is no excuse for soiled mattresses and dirty drapes on the windows. We were very disappointed-esp. since I passed up other cheaper hotels to stay at Comfort Suites University Area Notre Dame - South Bend. I hope the new owners are reading this. Please keep the current employees when you take over ownership. They are the only positive this sorry place has going for it.

The breakfast was good, with hot food served. Room was larger than most.

What a nice place for a quick stay in South Bend. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.

Bed was broken, no linens in room for pull out sofa, electrical plugs didn’t work, breakfast was horrible. Visited during Notre Dame graduation weekend and hotel decided it was a great time to paint all the hotel room doors and halls. Overall a horrible experience.

The mattress was the worst one I ever slept on. Totally worn down, especially on the edge. I had to sleep on the lump so I didn't feel like I would roll out of the bed. The TV was poor picture quality and every time we turned it on, it went through an auto programming mode first before we could watch anything. To close the bathroom door, you had to push it hard with two hands. There was broken hardware for some fixtures in the bathroom and chips in the bathroom walls. We had a room that faced the parking lot & in front of our window was two hotel spotlights which wouldn't have been an issue except that the longer, darker curtains covered only the edge of the windows so I had to use a clip to pull the curtains together on the bottom to block out some of the light. I mentioned the issue of the mattress & bathroom door to the manager-on-duty the next morning and she said just about everything was going to be renovated soon. That didn't make me feel any better and won't help the next person who gets booked into that room.

Staff was very helpful and airport shuttle was very convenient!

The don’t have hot water for the shower and it was very cold

It is closer where my daughter school. Then it is walkable for some places where we can get/ buy some foods.

We came here for my daughters 6th birthday. Pool was clean, but the surrounding pool area was not so clean. Wet towels were laying everywhere with no one in site. There were no clean/dry towels to use. We had to go back up and get room towels. Room was clean, but the bathtub was full of water when we arrived. Hallway smelled like cat urine. Breakfast was good, and the area was very clean! We were informed the property is under new management and he has a huge undertaking. Overall, we would stay again! Loved the close access to everything, check in/check out was quick and friendly.

Was not impressed. It wasn’t the worse we ever stayed at but definitely not the best.

The cleanliness of the room was good, had some issue with the tv going in and out, but other than that the stay was good

Staff was very nice but room wasn’t very clean. There was no tub stopper for my kids to take baths. Property could definitely use some updating

Not to bad.. there was about 10 Bags of garbage sitting outside the pool area. Also, the room was very nice with an abundance of towels with a big tub but no plug and the shower was the only way to fill the tub

The staff is awesome! The hotel is quiet and clean. The pool is nice and clean. I’m staying at this hotel next time I’m in town.

Friendly staff

Nice staff but the condition of the hotel is horrible! Bathroom shiwer area all moldy. The toilet did not flush properly and the tub did not drain. The furniture in the room was horrible condition. The window area was disgusting and the room AC was likely on its very last leg. The pool area was very oudated and the water was icecold. The bathrrom next to the pool was full of mold behind the wallpaper peeling off.

Outdated and needs renovation, badly. Broken bed frame, paint peeling from walls, cracked and scratched furniture, worn carpet, dirty fans, corrosion to bathroom sink, tub felt weird - like a bath mat, ice machine didn’t work on floor and tv in room took awhile to load and the resolution and quality of picture was poor. We stayed on the 3rd floor, had to go to 2nd floor for ice and it smelt like smoke. I know the hotel allows animals but honestly, there were a couple guests that had two dogs each. Breakfast was also poor, didn’t eat it - eggs looked like rubber. Don’t plan on staying there again.

This property has the appearance of an unkept property. It wasn’t exactly dirty, but I would use the word shabby. It is very dated and in need of some brightening up. The bed linens were very wrinkled. The mattresses were visibly out of shape. The staff was polite and very accommodating.
