The Monterey Peninsula Inn is quiet and comfortable. The staff is friendly and responsive. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette so we could cook/store meals and eat out less often. The room doesn’t have AC or heating, but a box fan and portable heater are provided. To cool off the room we had to open the windows and slat the louvre shades (they were in okay condition and couldn’t be raised). The Monterey Bay Area is cool and foggy during the summer, so while opening the windows did cool the room we struggled to keep it at a temperature we liked especially at night when we closed some windows for safety, all the appliances worked well. The kitchen faucet was temperamental and leaked unless it was set just so. We used bathroom linens as dish towels weren’t provided. The neighborhood is quiet and is walkable despite the lack of sidewalks. Downtown Pacific Grove is a 29 minute walk to the East and the beach parks are a 10 minute walk to the West. A Monarch Butterfly overwintering spot is a 5 minute walk to the South. Despite some quirkyness, I would stay here again.
