I booked a superior twin room with 1 week in advance of travelling, when we arrived the room we were given was a deluxe double. I spoke with reception and they said there was no superior twin available, how can this been when I booked a week prior to arriving? We were then downgraded to a standard twin which was made up as a double which again wasnt any good, so we went back to reception again and complained, the housekeeper came and said to us why did we book that room as it was clearly made up for a double and we said we didnt, we had been downgraded, so they had to make both beds up as twins and they gave us 2 drinks vouchers as compensation, which really wasnt enough for all the hastle we had to go through when the booking was clear enough we had booked a twin room. It also didnt help that we got back from our outing at midnight to then have people up and down the corridor of the annexe slamming and shouting when we were trying to get to sleep, especially as we had to be up again at 4am to continue our itinerary and we probably wouldnt have had any of that disturbance had we been in the correct room in the main hotel, instead of being stuck in the annexe. Certainly wouldn't stay again as can't even give you the room you booked with enough notice, so what is the point of booking in the first place?

The staff was very nice but the room was very dirty. Every where you looked it needed cleaned. Ok for a 1 night stay but not more than that.

Everything was going well evening meal was lovely in the restaurant and really are only negative feedback came the following morning at breakfast. Unfortunately, the coffee was undrinkable and the scrambled eggs were inedible, which was disappointing. Following breakfast, we decided to go for a swim before checking out, only to be advised that swimming lessons were taking place between 9:30am and 1:00pm and that we would therefore not be able to access the pool area. To the best of my knowledge, this restriction was not made clear during the booking process or upon check-in. This was particularly disappointing as my son had been very much looking forward to swimming that morning and it was one of the reasons we chose to stay at the hotel. Otherwise all good

Mattress was a disaster. Two single beds pushed together as requested for me and my partner but two completely different mattresses, one hard and one soft and too soft that it caused hip pain. A/C was blowing out on/off hot & cold all night. Won’t be staying here again as it was a night before an important interview. Thanks for that!

The room was nice, receptionist was pleasant, grounds were pretty, the pool was empty and pleasant. The breakfast was ok, the staff were slow to clear away dirty plates and refresh items, The rooms in the Manor House were elegant looking, if you looked too closely at anything it was apparent things needed a refresh or complete refurbs/fixing (leaking ceilings, broken panels, bath plug continued to let water out the bath) but it was absolutely fine was for what we needed

Misleading description of superior room , poor shower

Think my stay was more bad timing than anything. Only stayed for one night and told at check-in the restaurant wasn’t going to be open that evening but I could use the bar. The bar only has two lagers on draught and they had ran out of the one I wanted. Food menu at the bar was limited but what I had was tasty to be fair. Bed and shower was ok. Tv was small compared to the norm these days. Bathroom sink tap was loose, broken and leaking and couldn’t get cold water for the kettle. It was only the one night stay so I didn’t make a fuss. Staff were nice and friendly but the hotel manager looked miserable as hell. Not sure a saw a smile all night.

Smart modern clean room. The restaurant menu is a bit basic but quality is good . Staff were very friendly.

Staff very good and welcoming however the same old issues again. Very limited bar menu served in the "restaurant" Very disappointing. - Food used to be so much better there. Bar service really slow. Usually if there is a function on, the bar caters for both normal hotel guests and the event.

Overall, my stay was enjoyable & the staff were nothing but polite & helpful - I can see how hard everyone is working there to provide an excellent service but I have the following issues to report. I stayed in 'Botham' which is a large room/suite. 1. There was a fault with the lights, meaning that the only light available to me was the 2 bedside lights - considering the room is a suite, this was inadequate. I reported the issue & the manager came quickly to try and resolve the matter, but despite resetting the trip, the lights kept tripping out. The hotel was fully booked, so a couple of portable LED lamps were provided - not great, but the best that could be done. 2. The sash window was jammed partly open, so noise from outside in the morning woke me at 6.45am. 3. The shower didn't drain properly, so when I stepped out of the shower, almost the whole bathroom floor was flooded. 4. The wall in the bathroom by the sink is badly marked (as a result of the towel rail becoming detached at some point by the look of it). 5. The ceiling in the pool looks a bit tatty, with quite a few slats missing. 6. I ordered a burger & fries & it was OK, nothing special in all honesty - just OK. 7. There is a low-frequency humming noise near the restaurant - could be an AC fan or something, but it's quite loud & detracts from the dining experience - it must drive the staff mad! The hotel just needs some TLC & a bit of a spruce up, but despite the above points, I would stay again.

Lovely hotel grounds are lovely staff were helpful and polite rooms had all the essentials needed. Hotel was peaceful enjoyed gaving breakfast. Bar was nice good drinks selection. Great location for the warner brothers harry potter studio tour.

The hotel room was clean with all the essentials. However, the walls were cracking, there were marks on the walls, and I could hear every noise. I booked a suite, but it was unavailable due to maintenance issues. I received a dinner credit, but the food was awful with very little selection. The bartender was bordering on rude. I would not stay here again.

Another excellent stay, super room and super courteous and helpful staff

Staff were lovely and friendly, the hotel was absolutely stunning with beautiful gardens. Really good value for money and had a wonderful stay. The staff were so helpful giving us advice for travelling into the city. We arrived at 11 after driving from Manchester and there were quite a few parking spaces available. 10/10
