We had hoped this hotel would offer a little luxury and had paid more (£148/night) than we would normally afford. We were disappointed. Our room was small, located at the very top of the house, up four different sets of stairs. The maid's room in an old country house, we mused. The room was very hot and stuffy, during warm weather outside (~25C). The bathroom was too small and the shower over the bath leaked water badly. But worst were the paper thin walls. After midnight, an inebriated couple returned to their room next door, singing out loud; their subsequent amorous antics left nothing to the imagination! The pool was good and easy to access. Breakfast was OK, but there was no service with a smile. Changing bath towels seemed to require a special dispensation at reception. Overall, it felt like hard work staying here. We won't repeat the experience!

Was a nice place as it a golf club and spa thought it would be quite but our weekend they had a load of kit sport cars and on both Saturday and Sunday there where outside reviving the car engine from 6 :30 in the morning so wasn’t relaxing at all which was a shame cos it was beautiful hotel and grounds

Very impressive site, looks like a mansion from exterior, . The entrance is very impressive too, very clean and reception is well located with very friendly helpful staff. My room was very large with very good facilities , overlooking a garden courtyard. Lovely room. My only two concerns were that it was close to a gravel car park and the noise of the gravel in the car wheels was a bit loud at times, bearing in mind that this is also a golf club.. and the other was that the fridge was very load but I overcame that by unplugging it as I wasn't using it. And turned it back on before leaving the room on check out day... The restaurant was very nice and the food was excellent as was the the waiters and waitresses. Overall had a great stay

A lovely stay but the place could do with a bit of a revamp. Room had a few cobwebs and dust. Looked very worn. I would stay again but for the price I would of expected higher standards

Hotel nice and leisure pool

I booked this hotel for its leisure facilities but unfortunately the pool gym sauna and other amenities were all closed on the day of my stay due to an issue. My bedroom door also didn’t lock at all and anyone could easily open it without a key card. I hadn’t realised this until the next morning and I probably wouldn’t have stayed if I had. The furniture was all very old and tiered looking worn and it desperately needed modernisation. Pillows were very uncomfortable and gave me a sore neck. I never moan at little things and try and resolve things directly but there was so many things wrong that it all really got to me.

Overall it’s a good base for working around the area

Outside is nice, but the hotel is outdated. No one cleans your room. Restaurant is not able to give you a table ad-hoc. Gym/pool is full of non guests crowding everything in the morning. Also gym opens way too late and not according to official information etc. Generally stay away.

The public areas of the hotel are well maintained, however, the family room that we stayed in had mould on the windows and filthy net curtains. My daughter and I cleaned the bottom of the windows in order to open them to let in some fresh air. The general appearance of the room was very tired and worn, but the beds were clean. The service was generally quite slow especially in the dining room and bar. The pool areas were generally clean, but again looked in need of a bit of updating. Pool side furniture was rather worn and tired. The amenities were good and the general appearance is fine. We would go again, but possibly request a better/different room? The position of the property is great, close to Norwich and the Norfolk Broads.

Great hotel really pleased with my choice

Things were not great during my stay. The food was awful, and breakfast was particularly disappointing. My room was not clean, and the bed was uncomfortable. To make matters worse, there was no staff available at checkout. On top of that, the invoice I was given was incorrect and did not reflect the amount that had already been paid through Expedia. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I expected a much higher standard of service and accommodation.

Our room was tiny and tiny windows and boiling hot had to check out early as there was no other rooms to change to .

The hotel is well positioned for a visit to Norwich. Room and inside of hotel including spa are kept clean but are in need of a refurbishment. Hotel food is nice, buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing as not all food was available. Out side of hotel needs some attention and also a bin or two as litter is a problem in plant beds etc. Staff were very helpful but not enough of them.

Great swim.

First thing we saw on entering the room were several quite big green (ink?) stains on the carpet. A lovely big bed but only 2 small pillows, so had to ask for more. The room was very hot and although we found a fan it didn’t get below 26 degrees the 3 nights we were there, outside not over 22 degrees in the day! We went to the Restaurant our first night and waited 30 mins for a drink. The food was not good and loud party of golfers drove us to the bar. Not much better so took wine to our room. Ate in the room next 2 nights. I booked this hotel because I wanted a pool etc. the jacuzzi was broken and the steam room was also out of action, and with swimming lessons for about 20 kids relaxing it wasn’t!!! On our last night a member of staff, Matilda, hunted and found us another fan. She was the only one to really help. There are often functions (one every night we were there) which are very loud and go on until 1 a.m.!! So all in all not impressed and definitely not 4* for us.

Nice property but needs some tlc.

Firstly, I came here last year and it's was an easy 10/10, but this time was different, I brought the family as we were attending an event near by, the 3 of them have disabilities and have poor mobility, the first problem we came across was that we were put in a part of the building where we had to climb stairs to get to our room, we didn't want to argue this because we just had a long drive and just wanted to refresh for the event but struggled to climb the stairs, secondly, the rooms we were given were above where they were having an event and we could hear music till 2330 and we were not able to calm down and get to sleep till after 0000, there was also a piano near the room and sombody was playing music pretty late, we ordered a double room and it only had one chair, where the twin room we had, had 3 chairs, breakfast was fine, but I have had betting in the likes of travel lodge and holiday inn expeess, but otherwise, the staff was great, the room were cleans and the swimming pool was great
