Bijzondere locatie om te overnachten qua oudheid en historie. Leuke en gezellige bar met grote lounge en vele fijne stoelen. Achter het hotel is ook een grote parkeerplaats en het hotel zelf ligt aan de hoofdstraat dus wel wat drukker voor de deur. Continentaal ontbijt was niet heel uitgebreid maar wel oké. Je kon English breakfast los bestellen. Je moet smalle trappen lopen richting kamer. Die was klein en compact ook qua badkamer.

Appreciate we had a room right at the front of the hotel but the noise in the morning from the unloading delivery van was very very loud.

Quirky and incredibly well designed hotel! It can’t be easy remodeling a +500 year old hotel. Location was perfect! Downtown Colchester, walkable to shops and restaurants. Modern amenities, fabulous decor, great location and incredible customer service! I really enjoyed staying in the historic hotel.

I was very pleasantly surprised by my stay at The George hotel. In my opinion it is good enough to be a 4 star hotel not a 3 as advertised. The decor, the staff and cooked breakfast was marvellous, perfect poached eggs. The staff were all friendly too. Will definitely stay there again when I am in town. Thank you 😊

Room was amazing! Great size, very comfortable bed and being at the back of the hotel meant it was quiet! Shower was excellent Breakfast was freshly cooked and superb! Nothing to fault

There is no elevator/lift, so not ideal if you have luggage, and the wifi is not good.

Excellent hotel and location and staff lovely, bit annoying to have to pay for parking but would still return. Good value for money and nice and easy access to everything 👌

Bought this as a gift for my dad's 72nd birthday as it's a very historic hotel with lots of stories attached to it.... Booked it on valentine's night which fell on a Saturday as I thought it would make a nice night away for my parents but turned out to be a bit of a disaster. The room had no heating (it was freezing at the time). The TV didn't work and under the bed was littered with empty bottles from previous guests so hadn't had a decent clean... If that wasn't enough with the noise from clubs across the street they didn't get to sleep until after 4am.... They definitely saw the funny side of the whole experience but I don't think they'll be going back

Check in check out was excellent. Room clean and warm. Overall a good stay. One issue. It was NYE. We were meeting other hotel guests in the bar before going elsewhere for dinner and to another venue for the NYE celebrations. Your bar staff were abrupt to the point of rudeness in telling us that we had to drink up and leave by 1700. Other patrons were unceremoniously herded out. As we were all guests, we objected and the bar manager slapped down paper coffee cups and ordered us to decant our drinks into them so they could wash our glasses for the evening. We refused and left once we had finished. The drinks are extortionately priced as though you are in London not Colchester. We should have been left alone to enjoy them. Your staff need better people skills. It left a bad impression.
