Arrived to find we were put in a room with a walk in wet room with a pull down shower chair and two single beds pushed together to form a double. The room smelt unpleasant with tired furniture. We turned around and left

After having been to Tavistock nearly every other year for the last 74 years, 54 with my wife, we always wanted to stay in the Bedford. I booked the Bedford this year and I was not disappointed. It was clean with the rooms done everyday, the meal selection throughout the day was excellent and the staff very helpful. It is also pet friendly. There is an outside garden with which to sit with a drink and relax. The parking is ample but has a cost of £8.00 per day if you do not book your stay direct with the hotel. It will definitely be used again on my next visit

NO TOLITERIES LIKE PASTE ETC

This hotel is full of character, but the fittings, bathroom, bed are all thoroughly modern, crisp and clean. Breakfast was great, the staff weekday and weekend were very helpful. Dinner was good - the menu extensive enough to provide options for each evening they were there. Ability to park safely onsite is always welcome. The locatio is superb. I'd say top of the grade for a 3-star property.

Was very nice to stay in a very well conserve you live and breath the English old fashion style it’s like travel in time and be immerse in a movie

The staff are welcoming and helpful. The building has a comfortable old-world feel. Meals are well cooked, and delicious. We had trouble with a leaking basin in one room but it got sorted within the evening. It still felt a little of the same as when I went here over 65 years ago !

Nice convenient hotel for our purposes. Room was very hot even with the fan which was provided we were melting all night.

Having family in the locality and visiting often I have always wanted to stay at the Bedford. This trip was for a funeral and an end of an era. Staff were very friendly breakfast was very good indeed

Pleasant stay

We booked this hotel for one night, as we had a friend's party near by. The hotel is stunning from the outside and is easily walkable to the whole town, although we arrived late saturday and most things were closed on sunday. The room was very nice and big, however we were close to the area a wedding party was being held so it was noisy until 1am. The room was too warm so the windows had to be left open, there was no air conditioning, a fan was provided but this was too loud to sleep with, when switched on. Unfortunately our room was also facing the front of the hotel so we were woken up by people revving their cars on the main road. The breakfast provided was very good Overall a nice hotel, however I wouldn't stay again in summer due to the noise

This hotel and its staff were excellent. Since booking my health wasn’t so good but they accommodated us and changed our room to suit. They were helpful and professional and friendly. Efficient. A few were obviously new but polite and helpful
