Excellent pub! Room a little dated but okay.

We had a beautiful time at the waring house. You dont even have to leave the property. The free breakfast was very good. We had dinner at the pub. It was delicious. The grounds are beautiful.

Huge bathtub but very small shower.

Loved having the Pub within walking distance. Breakfast is delightful and grounds/ gardens very natural and serene atmosphere.

The Waring House offers a truly memorable experience, and it starts the moment you arrive. The grounds are impeccably maintained — lush, inviting, and clearly cared for with pride. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest felt welcomed and well looked after. We stayed in the Quaker Lodge, which struck a perfect balance between modern comfort and historic charm. Our room featured a lovely balcony overlooking the Millennium Trail — an ideal spot to enjoy a quiet morning coffee or unwind in the evening with a glass of wine. Dining at The Barley Room Pub and Amelia’s Garden was a highlight. The food and drinks were consistently excellent, but what really stood out was the level of service. While we did notice occasional moments where the staff seemed stretched — something a few other reviews have mentioned — what impressed us most was how gracefully and kindly each team member handled it. Their calm professionalism and friendly demeanour turned any potential hiccup into a moment of connection, not inconvenience. Will definitely be back and I can’t say enough about the total experience of The Waring House. *disclaimer, this is a real review from a real unbiased and very happy customer.

We loved the open friendly atmosphere and staff. Enjoyed the heritage setting too. Breakfast was excellent.

All of the restaurant meals were delicious. The grounds were very pretty and very well kept. The room was spacious in a beautiful old building, formally a historic house I believe.

Lovely country setting, enjoyed entertainment during dinner. Good value.

Chambre très spacieuse et propre. Par contre, un rafraîchissement des chambres serait nécessaire. C’est un peu vieillot comme style. Au moins, l’emplacement est tranquille et parfait pour un séjour dans le coin.

The property is a little tired, staff were all pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast, but our dinner in the Amelia restaurant was expensive and poor quality. We had the chicken breast that must have been cooked earlier and it was super dried out with no seasoning whatsoever. The lamb was ok. They were all out of PEC wines which is ridiculous as that is why we were visiting the region. They need more attention to the dining experience

Everyone so helpful and nice. The Waring Pub is top notch. Rooms were clean and so quaint and comfortable.

Le petit dejeuner était délicieux. L’emplacement et la tranquillité parfaite. Le terrain et jardin bien entretenu et fleuris. Les chambres sont meublées vieillot et profiterait de grand ménage et nettoyage afin de rafraîchir l’odeur des lieux. Les luminaires et l’ameublement étaient poussiéreux. Les meubles et les tapis ont besoin d’être nettoyé et le matelas rajeunit. L’accueil et le personnel nous ont grandement fait apprécier l’hébergement. Nous en étions à notre 2e visite, il y en aura certainement une autre !

Pros: close to the town of Picton, has that cool country vibe, has a bar and restaurant, really beautiful gardens. It’s a quiet place and great to relax. I had read recently about extra charges the hotel likes to give you. Cons: they charges me twice for hotel fees, when I checked in and then again when I checked out. I told them this and it was like talking to a wall. Although it says “free” breakfast it’s not. They charge you on the way out whether you like it or not. The staff smelled sooo bad of old cigarettes, it was disgusting! You want to smoke? Fine but not during business hours or if you know you smell like you have been rolling around in 2 week old cigarettes butts and never bathed. This was reception. Then at breakfast I caught a waitress coming from a smoke break like…your cigarette smoke is the last thing I want to smell at breakfast. I booked this hotel because I thought it was different and at the time I booked it, it had great reviews. I would not recommend. Book somewhere else, you can get decent prices if you book months in advance.

What a find!!! We loved everything about this place ......the accommodations, food, location, etc. We most certainly will be coming back.

Property was very well maintain. Area was quiet and safe xhort distance from restaurants and shopping. The only problem was some staff at the breakfast but that was quickly solved.

Great location excellent accommodation and food

The rooms are very roomy and clean but a little outdated decor wise. The staff at the front desk as well as the bartender at the pub (for live music) and the waitress at breakfast were all excellent.

The King mattress in ou bedroom has a big hole in the middle. So when I slept, I was always rolling in the middle of it. I think it would be better if they could change this mattress. Thank you
