Absolutely wonderful stay

Magnifique séjour dans cet hôtel de rêve. Très confortable et quelle ambiance. Excellent rapport qualité prix. On reviendrait avec grand plaisir. Petit déjeuner hors du commun!

Fun place to stay, if one has never stayed in a castle!

Lumley Castle is a fantastic experience. The staff are all brilliant and the food was amazing. The bedrooms are compact and obviously old-style but that doesn't take away from an unforgettable stay and we will definitely be back.

The castle was quirky and interesting. The only criticism would be that the lights in the rooms were very low wattage and thus the room appeared very dark which made it difficult to read anything. Perhaps at least one light with a bright bulb would be good. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. It was a very pleasant stay in a historic building which was set in a nice location nearby to the main town and an excellent base for travelling around the area.

Staff were wonderful, breakfast was great, bar food was expensive and not great quality, so would avoid eating there in the evenings. Location is great for Beamish and Durham.

Staff were friendly and helpful, room was lovely, we had a lovely 2 day stay and a bonus was the weather was great "thank you " Mark and Jess xx

Lovely staff,very helpful,we enjoyed our stay & i wanted the courtyard superier which had more space & loved the different selection of tea too chocolate drinks,cleaners are lovely too, & I loved the architecture of this beautiful castle, also we got to meet the castle cat popit,she was a lovely friendly cat,

clean room staff was chatty and helpful breakfast was good not used bar overall good

Ww wanted an authentic castle stay and that's exactly what it is. Staff were wonderful, bar and restaurant were superb. Castle steeped in history and very comfortable with plenty of lounge areas. Room was spacious and comfortable and we couldn't have enjoyed our stay any.more!

Amazing property. 600 years old so you should expect some issues. It was lovely though.

I love this hotel and have stayed there three times now. Close to Durham for a lovely walk around. We stayed in the actual castle at the top, which was lovely, but there were so many stairs. We also stayed in the stables, which is where I prefer. Super food and the breakfasts are fabulous. We just like to stay for a while and are about to book again. Great place 👌

It's a 14th century castle, so authentic, the service & the ambience were exceptional. David & Dean in reception were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. All the other staff were also outstanding & the food was delicious.

Lovely building, but expect 1800’s style rooms!

The property and the room itself were beautiful. We were given an upgrade free of charge which was much appreciated. The location is also very convenient. The staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. The only thing that spoilt the stay was the cooked breakfast. The bacon and mushrooms were like leather and we could not eat it. On the second day we stuck to the continental items to be safe.
