Animal and Environmental harm caused by employees I recently stayed at Silver Sand Resort on Havelock Island and was deeply disturbed by what I witnessed. Several times, I saw resort employees throwing rocks at stray dogs that were calm, friendly, and non-aggressive. The island dogs are well accustomed to tourists, and Havelock Island is also widely known to be rabies free. In one shocking incident, an employee hit a harmless dog with a rock as it walked past the property. The dog cried out in pain, upsetting everyone nearby. When I asked the employee to stop, he said the resort manager had instructed staff to do this. If guests are uncomfortable around the dogs, there are far more humane ways to handle the situation than hurting innocent animals. This behavior reflects very poorly on the resort and its management. To make matters worse, employees were also seen littering on the beach and throwing garbage into a neighboring lot (photos attached), showing a serious lack of environmental responsibility. Future guests who value animal welfare, ethical tourism, and environmental care should be aware of these practices.

Not even close to a 5 star stay. Food on site is mediocre at best (yet expensive) and the service is not great. We had mice in the room. The location is quite far away from everything else on the island so you always need a taxi, but those are not always available. This was not worth it.

Zimmer war sehr gross, etwas unpersönlich. Safe war nicht vorhanden, war eben nur ein Basic room. Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

While Taj Exotica is often promoted as the premier option, that distinction appears tailored more to status-seekers than to travelers prioritizing authenticity, comfort, and location. From a value perspective, Silver Sands delivers exceptionally well. The setting is outstanding, the beachfront lagoon is remarkable, and the panoramic views are genuinely awe-inspiring. The location alone justifies serious consideration. Operationally, the staff performs at a high level — attentive, responsive, and consistently professional. Service quality is a clear strength. That said, the property shows craftsmanship gaps in certain construction and finish details — particularly in carpentry and masonry — where higher standards would materially elevate the resort’s overall impression. The primary weak point is the food program, which falls well below the level set by the location and service quality and deserves immediate improvement. Bottom line: exceptional setting, excellent staff, correct price point, premier location — with facility finishing and culinary execution representing the main opportunities for upgrade.

It needs a lot of attention before it is a 5 star resort. I would class this as a 3 star. The housekeeping has low standard. The ac and electric wires were left hanging within the rooms! In my opinion Hotels.com need to reclassify this resort to a 3 star.

Spa was excellent , due to renovations lots of traffic and noise but will be excellent location to stay when they finish work, check in was smooth and facilities food and breakfast was excellent .

This property is on the way towards kalapathar beach from Havelock. They have rooms or cottages on both side of the roads. You can enter into vijayanagar beach easily and spend time there. The beach is a perfect one for a good scenery. We enjoyed the time there.

Hôtel superbe avec de grandes et belles chambres .. le parc avec les cocotiers est juste magnifique et la mer splendide.. la plage mérite d’être nettoyée !!! Beaucoup d’ordures sur le côté gauche ce qui n’ai pas très beau et écologique !!!! J’ai ramassé moi même énormément de plastique !!

Our experience at Silversands was a very memorable one. Everything was top notch!

Very good location and beach access. Toilet bowl had few stains during checking in process. So toilet cleanliness could be better. Room cleanliness was good. Service was good and promptly given all the time.

This hotel is a very average budget hotel with poor quality rooms, unhygienic and smelly bathrooms, unclean cutlery in the restaurant, bad service, the only thing good is the location and the private beach.

Wonderful stay at Silver Sands- comfortable, clean, relaxing. Would stay again no question. Food was very good-exceptional breakfast in particular.

Excellent location right on a private patch of beach. Nice little pool as well. Pleasant service and decent food at the restaurant. Rooms are nice but a bit dated - could do with a renovation!

Wonderful location and the staff are very warm and friendly. Just a few steps away from a clean and calm beach. Perfect to relax by the beach with a nice drink and read a book. There is even a nice clean swimming pool incase the beach doesn't appeal to you.

The view of the beach is stunning. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Overall a brilliant place for our honeymoon! Also the perfect place to see sunrise.
