We had an amazing stay at The Old rectory. The staff were so friendly on arrival. I had to leave for a meet up before breakfast was due to start, and so they made me a breakfast sandwich to take with me so that I didn't miss out. It was really exceptional service. The bedroom was cosy and was perfect for our needs. The only downside was that the floorboards creaked loudly whenever we walked around the room, and the bathroom/shower could do with updating. Otherwise I would highly recommend the old rectory for anyone staying in Wem.

eveything excellent except beds had no padding on the mattress and it was like sleeping on a box spring

We couldn’t fault the staff however the property needs some work. Our room was small, mattress uncomfortable, shower was filthy with mould around the metalwork. The room was ‘cleaned’ twice when we were there however the duvet was just thrown over and but the comforter etc were dumped at the end of the bed. Room wasn’t hoovered and bathroom not cleaned as there was talc left on the glass shelf from the night before. It’s a shame as the hotel could be wonderful but needs money spending on it. As for the breakfast menu! Still mentioning Covid and how you have to order everything in one go. Certainly won’t be returning.

Very friendly staff, quiet surroundings, lovely food.

Was a lovely stay for a friends wedding nearby. Nothing was too much trouble. The customer service was 10/10 so friendly and hospitable. Beds were comfy and rooms were clean. Breakfast was lovely and freshly made

Really liked the hotel architecture and grounds. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Breakfast options for vegans. Quiet and comfortable setting. Some of the furniture in the room could do with an upgrade as some tired and stained. Bathroom could be a bit cleaner around taps and shower basin.

Our stay was excellent! the building is set in a lovely quiet area at the edge of the village, and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

We had a really lovely weekend at the Old Rectory. Large room, quiet and warm. Breakfast was excellent. All the staff were really nice. A mix up with the booking was dealt with very efficiently by the person on the desk (Natalie, I think). She sorted everything out and we were made to feel very welcome. Easy walk into the town, which has an Indian restaurant, other takeaways and a few pubs with food and beer.

Lovely period hotel with mostly period furniture. Very welcoming and helpful staff. I was staying on my own but there was such a good friendly atmosphere I didn’t feel “on my own”. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Our second stay this year. The property is very comfortable, the staff are all very helpful & friendly. A great breakfast each morning. We look forward to returning in 2025 & fully recommend the Old Rectory.

Really nice place to stay, the room I had was also huge. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had.

Excellent stay, staff absolutely brilliant

It could of been better, the bed's was very uncomfortable as the mattress was dreadful. The sandwich was stale and I am not sure what the breakfast was as it all seemed scaled down.

We chose the Old Rectory as it was close to family/friends that we were visiting. Not only was it convenient it was a great hotel with such friendly and welcoming staff. The gardens around are also beautiful.

We have stayed a number of times. The rooms are comfortable, the staff always very pleasant & welcoming. A really good breakfast to start the day. A good location for seeing Shropshire from, park & ride for Shrewsbury is only a short drive, Attingham National Trust is also within easy reach. We look forward to returning again.

I have stayed at the Rectory several times and it always been so relaxing and the staff are so lovely, nothing is too much trouble. I would throughly recommend 😀
