Lovely country house, beautifully decorated. Our room had views to the lake. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful, breakfast staff not so much. Didn’t have dinner at the restaurant, but breakfast was nice and the hot food cooked to order. Just to note there’s no fridge in the rooms, I guess most guests either eat all meals onsite or head out.

We stayed here for one night, half board. The location is fantastic, with amazing views and a short walk to the lakeside. We enjoyed both meals very much, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The bars and restaurants were nicely furnished and clean, and our room was a good size. We had a lovely weekend break and would definitely stay here again.

Great views, lovely staff, nice hotel.

The ambiance and area where the hotel is situated was quiet and tranquil, which helped towards a comfortable stay. Helpful and friendly staff on hand. However the stairs up to the room can be a little narrow and the room itself was too small. A standard room in a budget hotel like Travelodge or Premier Inn feels much bigger and spacious than our room. Overall, I would consider staying again – but ideally in a larger room.

Nice stay excellent food , very good quality, the grill menu was good and was surprised by the high standards provided, decent rooms , showers abit hit and miss but wouldn’t let that put anyone off , great staff and nice people who are very friendly Local to lake Windermere excellent for country walks ..highly recommended

everything was clean and spotless , first night we had a meal in the restaurant which was was very , retread back to the bar which had a great hot open fire , are room was spotless and the staff where friendly and helpful , will return at some stage , highly recommend

We had an amazing weekend at Merewood County House.It was in a great location. Our room was huge with a great view of the lake. Everything was spotlessly clean and well set out. We had evening meals and breakfasts at the hotel and the food was excellent. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly and we couldn’t fault anything. Thank you

All areas were very clean, staff pleasant and food very good. One disappointing area, was the size of the double room, bed small and the mattress very uncomfortable. Overall a nice hotel.

We had originally booked a double bed, but they were out of stock, so they changed us to two rooms free of charge. Very kind of them.And the hotel has a very retro décor and a great atmosphere. You can play chess with friends by the warm fireplace while enjoying a beer. It's very pleasant

Merewood is a beautiful country house hotel. We had a perfect stay. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel and its grounds are just lovely. We ate in the Arboreal restaurant and, wow, what a treat that was. Really couldn't have been better

Absolutely wonderful staff, front of house host was lovely and very welcoming. Beautiful cosy atmosphere in the three social areas we visited (bar,lounge and library). Lovely hotel overall, will need to try the restaurant next time as we arrived later in the evening. Very welcoming to our dogs which was much appreciated! Lovely rooms. Will definitely return!

Very friendly and helpful staff, the hotel itself was just beautiful! I was hoping for a slightly better room after paying slightly more, but everything else made up for it.
