Clean and nicely decorated room. However no ac so was unbearable in this current heat wave. Would have thought a modern building would have in place. There was a fan but limited ventilation in room.

Great value for Money hotel in central Newbury with free parking. Rooms are small but the bed was big and v comfy. Grateful for the fan as no air conditioning

Bed was comfortable and breakfast very nice. Negatives - no air con on a very hot day/night and shower problematic. Couldn’t avoid getting hair wet, shower head too high to adjust and no soap in dispenser. Otherwise all good.

The food was very poor and so was the service

we are very thankful that we were upgraded from rm 20 to rm 35. Rm 20 has a king size bed but no room for luggage. One aggravation: having to rejoin the free network every 8 hours. Why?

Lovely clean and modern “Lodge”. Staff at check in and in the restaurant were excellent. Eve and Lee went out of their way to way to make us welcome.

This property is excellent for a short break for a couple of days.common areas spotless. Room clean, bed very comfortable. Staff welcoming, helpful, qall you could wish for. Apparently the property was originally built by Newbury racecourse for the jockeys. Possibly because of this there are few creature comforts such as no fridges, cupboards or desks. You hang clothes on a rail in the bedroom. None of this would really matter to the short stayer clients. Also the basic room is rather cramped so we asked to be moved to a larger room which was readily made available Self service continental breakfast and cooked breakfast is cooked to order and was excellent. Nice bright and airy breakfast room with full bar available either inside or outside. We thought it great value for money Located Newbury racecourse grounds, plenty of free on site parking. We used as a base to visit Highclere castle( better known as Downton Abbey of course)

Lovely setting and nice building. Some minor scuffs that need routine maintenance. Shower gel was empty in the shower and the kettle continued to boil. Overall, a nice hotel in spectacular location, just needs some improved attention to detail.

Nice place but the breakfast staff wasn't very pleasant, needs better attention skills and attitude..

Was good for 1 night stay. Breakfast was nice. Staff super helpful and friendly. Only negative was the slamming doors at night. The bedroom doors require a good slam to shut them so this made it a little disruptive at night. Other than that it was a great little place to stay.

Free Parking , clean, breakfast , nice location quite

I was very impressed with The Lodge. It was easy to find, plenty of parking, reception staff were friendly and helpful. We booked two rooms, unfortunately one room had a smell to it, I think from a drain, hence 4 stars. Other than that the beds was massive, the rooms were clean and I would happily stay there again.

Lovely hotel staff polite and friendly checking in, our room was very small and a bit tired looking with some of the fittings looking a bit grubby and tatty and some marks on the wall, The bar and restaurant area were very nice and our breakfast was excellent. I would recommend going for an upgraded room hopefully a bit larger than ours.

Room was OK , not the biggest in the world but for the price was as expected. There was only a Plug socket one side of the bed so I couldn't use my phone and charge overnight with it handy. Hairdryer didn't work - not the end of the world but all appliances should be checked every time the room is prepped in my opinion.

The internet was fast, but one had to keep sighing in after a few hours. Room was comfortable, too hot. Unable to turn off radiator.

Check in was quick. Since i prepaid, i was handed the key. Staff did not request my credit card for incidentals. We had to walk through a series of fire doors (maybe 6?) and stairs to reach our first floor room. The room was small and worn. The bedding appeared dirty. The window was open a crack and could not be closed, so it was cold inside the room. I was able to turn up the heat so that was okay. The carpet was worn and thin. Bathroom was extremely cramped. The shower was very small and could use some caulk repairs. The shower had good pressure and nice hot water. It appeared that daily housekeeping did not do any cleaning aside from making the bed, emptying trash, and replacing towels. This was fine with me because it was a short stay and I kept things clean. Because the window was ajar, we heard workmen on the grounds starting fairly early in the morning. I did not visit the restaurant/bar. Overall, this stay was below average, but the location was perfect for my needs and the price was very low.
