Food was good excellent as were the staff but the hotel rooms badly need updating

We had a great stay. One of the best value hotels we’ve ever stayed in. Yes it could do with some TLC but for the price we paid, more than happy. Great breakfast and the spa was super.

This was a short break for us, just two days. Food was really good with portions rather too large for us pensioners. Great choice at breakfast. Lunch menu wide ranging: we had home made fish finger sandwich with chips, only £10. Puts Warners to shame. Will go again. very convenient for trips out, eg Steam railway and Brecon canal trips.

We have been staying at Nant Ddu for a few years now and really enjoy the food, swimming pool and hospitality. Breakfast is delicious. We have stayed in several of the rooms and always comfortable, clean and quiet. The only niggle is small things like. Nowhere to hang your coat, towels or wet bathers in the bathroom and only couple of hangers in small wardrobe. We only stay a couple of nights, so storage not too much of a problem, but just tiny things like pegs on back of doors and perhaps towel rail in bathroom would make a big difference.

Staff were brilliant, rooms have been let go from a maintenance point of view. Food was tasty but very over priced, especially the breakfast. Would have made a complaint if I’d had to pay £18 for that had it not been included with the nights stay. Drinks reasonably priced though.

I love staying here, it is my go to place when I badly need some downtime. Staff are still lovely and friendly and helpful (although sad to see some old faces now gone) Unfortunately on this occasion my Granddaughter and myself decided not to stay the night or have breakfast due to the amount of insects and moths etc in the room. Although there is a notice saying to shut the windows because of the above, the bedroom window wasn’t closed properly and our room had lots of midgies and moths in the bedroom. I know it has been unbelievably hot but it didn’t seem right to stay in a room where we would probably have been bitten through the night, so after the pool and food, and hanging around until bedtime downstairs playing draught, we decided to go home around 10.30pm - 11.00pm. Expensive few hours in the place I love going to, due to the bank holiday.

Nice looking hotel in a lovely location. It is conveniently located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park making it ideal to get out and about either walking, hiking, and cycling in the surrounding area. Waterfall country is about a 30 minute drive away. Very friendly and polite staff. Food was on the slightly pricey side but it was excellent quality. Can’t comment on the pool, spa or gym facilities as we did not use them. The hotel ceilings as well as the room we stayed in whilst comfortable and included all the amenities you could possibly need it does look worn in places and needs some work done.

It was nice to hear the distant sound of sheep and the gushing torrent of a river

The room was a lovely size with a big bed. The staff were lovely and helpful. There was a wide choice of breakfast foods.

Great food , great pool ,good staff ,great location for the Beacons . Our room could do with a new coat paint and a tidy up.no stand up shower just a bath with hand held shower.

The locations is incredible, quiet under dark skies. Rooms are big, quality furniture and have the noise of the river to fall asleep to. Highly recommend.

We had a good stay at the hotel because we have loved it for the last 10 years. The food was the usual excellent standard. However, the bed was the least comfortable and most worn out bed we have seen in a hotel in years, which led to a poor nights sleep. The bathroom has been repaired since our last visit but the worksmanship was poor and it felt quite shoddy. We did not use the pool area this time, so cannot comment on whether it has been maintained. We will wait a while before we return and hope the mattress (es) are upgraded. Thank you to the kitchen and waiting team for really good meals.

Great location for walking. The rooms and areas were a bit tired looking and worn, for example the towels were scraggy, there was no where to hang a towel in the bathroom, the lock on the bathroom door was dodgy, but the hotel staff in all areas from reception to the spa and the bistro were extremely friendly and professional. The pool area with the steam room and sauna although a little worn down was a nice welcome after a hike. The bistro evening menu, food and breakfast were all of a high standard. Would definitely stay again when I’m the area due to its central location in the Brecon Beacons. It was good value for money and friendly staff.

Perfect location for pen y fan and local walks. The food was amazing however the bar did lack atmosphere and was pretty tatty. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Alot of the decor needs modernisation and attention to detail. We paid more for superior room but there was nothing superior about it other than the room size was slightly larger. Furniture was scratched and damaged and bathroom was very dated and in need of minor repairs. Would have probably been top of range in the 90s but the colored tiles and shower curtain just look dated. Worst thing was the bed. The mattress was terribly uncomfortable and needs to be replaced or atleast have a topper. The duvet was extremely thin and worn and had a hole in it. The spa facilities were nice but the changing rooms were more local budget leisure centre rather than luxury hotel.the hot tub was definitely less than hot. Overall would stay again but for the food and location only.
